Nah, you're fine, just no cell phone photos in here, ok?
-
Yeah, well, quit bogarting.

All of you smoking pot in here, do you really think we can't smell it? And hiding under your lampshades isn't fooling anyone. You look like a chimney.
-
Ah, this is glorious.

Free lampshades, togas, and IPAs for everybody who manages to get on. I'm so sorry to hear that a lot of you are having connection problems. Keep trying, I'm sure they are working hard to iron it out.

WOO-HOO!!!!!! In honor of Sarah C's happy announcement, I'm putting out our collection of fringed lampshades as well as the box of slightly worn togas for whoever wants to wear either! WAY TO GO, SARAH!

We here at Via Chicago feel strongly about "being green" (and we all know that's not easy) and about keeping our carbon footprints light. Toward this end, we have decided that all members of Via Chicago should have a more "natural" name. We are asking all Via Chicago members to, on April 10 (Saturday), change their name to one of nature's beautiful creatures! We prefer fur-bearing mammals when possible, and please, non-aquatic. (Also no, you may not change your name to "A Quatic"). I'll give you my own example: "kidsmoke" becomes "kangaroo"! Others in our moderating and administrating group

Thanks as always for the informed info, Mike. I'm looking forward to this webcast! Pat-TAY!

Thanks for the compliments on our board, and welcome to Via Chicago! I have some of that Mountain Stage show on disc, haven't listened to it in forever but I remember it was a great one!

Brianne, thanks for your very reasonable handling of an unnecessarily snarky post. I'm always a little startled at posters who find our "Rules and Regs" hard to abide by, since the only thing we really insist on is basic civility toward other members. Often a problem arises from behavior that a poster would never think of engaging in in person, in "real life", but which is somehow seen as allowable, or clever, on the internet. Not so. Let's resume our conversation about the Durham show, which sounds like it was pretty terrific.

I just want to point out that that was panther's 666th post. Also, dude, what's up with everybody calling one another dude like it was Miley Cyrus day or something, dude? -
I can't seem to play anything else tonight. O Dana as I type. What a sad, premature loss this is.
-
Aw, crap. RIP and thanks for all the incredible music, Alex. A true one-of-a-kind.

I salute your grandpop's sacrifice! Seriously, I do.

That show is painful to watch.

My dad was one of the paratroopers who jumped on Corregidor to retake it from the Japanese...he tells of the Japanese firing up at the troopers as they drifted down, some dead from Japanese fire before they even reached ground. Dad has some really fascinating, but often horrific, tales to tell from his time in the Pacific Theatre. The paratroopers he jumped with were going on poor military info, and found far more Japanese on the island than they had expected. The Americans ultimately prevailed, but not easily. Cheers to the courage of those men!

Yeah, it's criminal what textbooks cost! That book looks intriguing. I have to rave again about City of Thieves. How tragic, comic, and triumphant this book is...and in the end, how sweetly heartening. There is so much depth here. This story is a gem! This is one of those books that will stick in my head for life. to author David Benioff!
