Going to Prague, Vienna and Budapest!

Ah, Vienna! Be sure you go inside St. Stephen's Cathedral! The horse drawn carriage rides that originate outside the cathedral and travel through the old city are great for the information (if you can understand the heavily accented english) as well as being a wonderful short break from walking. Eat your fill and a few other people's of the too-pretty-to-eat cakes and pastries. They are as good as they look! I'd also recommend a walk to The Prater (amusement park) and a ride on the huge, venerable old ferris wheel with cabin-sized cars. The view in any direction is breathtaking. The Prater was -
Thanks to M.Chris for that gorgeous video of The Band doing "It Makes No Difference". I was getting teary-eyed just listening. Danko's vocals are so achingly perfect in that. Good luck finding it, but Mickey Jupp's "City" has always choked me up. A guy leaving, and the girl can't come. Classic sad. "Will you write, if I send a letter? Every night Think of me every night Or better still, come with me to where I'm going I'd like to have you along..." Simply stated and such wistful loss about it!

Be strong, Dunja! And have fun emptying the ice cream tubs.

Aw, that's beautiful!

I'm considering just giving up altogether.

Yes twobobs, I realize there was a space between those two words, and there is a difference between "butt heads" and "buttheads".

Very cool! Congratulations!

Sorry, that's bull. The act of trying to get a higher price for tickets than was paid for them has a commonly acknowledged name, which is "scalping". You were trying to scalp these tickets.

What, have we not stated policy clearly enough???? Here's the header on the "How to Fight Loneliness" forum: "Ticket Forum Rules This forum was created to help both people who are in need of tickets as well as for those who have extras. This forum is for Wilco, or Wilco-related shows ONLY, if you need tickets to R.E.M., go to Murmurs, or Craigslist, etc. Anyone caught trying to sell (or buy) tickets for over face value will be banned from the Via Chicago forums, NO WARNINGS. Dude, seriously, We mean it, don't even try..." The Via Chicago Staff And then for good measure, this "Go

Nope, he isn't Nels' twin brother, and this is why we have the rule that states: "Regarding Your Online Identity Your username should not be profane, be the name of a real living person other than yourself, contain foreign language characters, or be typed in all capitals." Poster "Alex Cline", I've adapted your username to something acceptable. If you wish to change to something else, please contact me via pm and I'll be glad to take care of it for you.

Has anybody told Riverside about this? I miss you so, fellow road warrioress! We shall travel and rock yet again! My lovely bunch of VC friends, thank you so very much for all your warm fuzzy good birthday wishes! I don't know what Wilco is slipping into the water, but I've never met a nicer or more caring group of people than you all. I feel so lucky to have made your acquaintances! Yes, I'm talking about YOU. I hope the coming year will give me plenty of chances to see some of you in person, or at least plenty of time to romp with you here in the hallowed halls of these for

I have recently discovered that I have the rather Frankensteinian ability, on this board, to "merge members".....which makes me imagine all kinds of weird and sometimes wonderful blends of two members' personalities! I think a blended m.chris and myself would be one of the good ones. (Some of the other possibilities send chills down my spine.) In honor of Chris's birthday, I promise not to merge anybody. Today, at least.

With love and bananas to you, sister of my heart, and sharer of our birthday! That's right, it's a sock monkey cake! I hope your day has been as wonderful as you are!
-
Why thank you!
-
But anyway, can we all dispense with saying "ass fucked" now?
-
That movie just plain makes me happy.

I thought Conan ended with class, period. What makes you say "kinda", drop dead ed? Just curious.

:lol And with that, we have January's Post of the Month.

Yes, do, Shakespeare! High Heat describes it well. A book you fall into and don't want to end. I agree it's better as it goes, not that it's ever bad! We are so off topic here.

I'm a huge fan of Craig Ferguson, whether in his comedic role being cute and silly, or speaking seriously. He's quite a bright guy, very fast on his feet in interview segments, and always interesting. Since I'm an admirer of his quick mind, I recently read his first book, which is fiction, called "Between the Bridge and the River". Of course I hoped to like the book because I like Ferguson, but I didn't expect it to be as brilliant as it was! It's a great, very funny, convoluted tale that intertwines the lives of several characters like a grand train wreck of ambitions and motivations. One of

That's awful news! Thank God he's in good medical hands and getting the care he needs. Get well soon, Greg!
-
Oh, you should definitely read it.

Me, or the original poster? That's a book I really oughta reread...it's been years.
