Say, you're quite an ass, aren't you? Troll much? To reply, point by point: This board is an all-ages-friendly board, by definition. (See "Via Chicago Rules and Regulations") If you're looking for the Mean-Assed Wilco Fan Board (MAWFB), try elsewhere. And this: "The guy used to be the moodiest on-stage performer around"....(bolding mine)...key phrase there, "used to be". (Nor would I agree that he was the moodiest, by any stretch of anyone's imagination) Jeff grew up over the years. He isn't now who he once was. What he once was, isn't what he wants to be anymore. (where have I hear

Scarnella, I'm sorry, but there is nothing "healthy" about stereotyping. Stereotyping prevents a person from seeing the individual standing right in front of him, in favor of a preconceived image. Stereotypes hurt and get in the way of knowing the real people involved. You are entitled to your own opinions, but as an admin here I have to insist that you refrain from insulting other VC members. (Obviously, that goes for everybody.) I've always agreed with the statement that "the mark of maturity is the ability to disagree without being disagreeable." Let's all attempt to say what we have to

Can someone please explain the Tweedy "Living Room Shows"?
kidsmoke replied to Bart's topic in Just A Fan
There are really two separate issues being discussed here, which have been inappropriately intertwined, because they are separate issues: One is the issue of sharing recordings of the Living Room Shows. That one is pretty cut-and-dried since Sue and Jeff have stated where they stand, which is that they don't want these recordings circulated. The second issue is the feeling that some people have that certain fans feel "entitled". If you were to take Crow's statement and remove the band's name: "The only problem with _________ is the sense of entitlement some fans have." ....I think you' -
Kalle! As a huge fan of The Wooden Sky, I'm thrilled for you! I finally got to see TWS about a week ago & they were amazing live, and as you say, they are also super nice people. Congratulations! I can't wait to hear the results of this collaboration!

This year Alissa has decided she just wants to be a ghost, so I guess that's that. Fortunately we have a cool ghost costume I made years ago, with lots of rattle-y chains attached and a scary face outlined in glow-in-the-dark fabric paint. I rubbed that onto the chains, too, so it's pretty neato in full darkness! What's up for Mila's costume?

No it isn't, because you see VC already has a member named Briggs, so that wasn't an option.

Drop me a message with the name you'd like to be changed to

Thanks Jules, I didn't catch that this username is that of a real living person, since I don't follow a lot of football.

Who has some kid-friendly costume ideas? We've already done "Movie Theatre Floor" (Smashed drink cup and movie-sized empty candy boxes glued to black sweats and headband, also popcorn attached everywhere including hair) and "Kid Without Health Care" (homemade crutch, various poorly-healing and not-so-well-dressed wounds, arm in a homemade sling, strange colorful rash on face that would easily be cured with a $5 tube of ointment, if the child had health coverage...but costs $350 without...you get the idea!) Need something original! Ideas?

Ok who else thinks I really ought to change my display name to "kidsmoke, WTF!" ? Lance, if you'll read over the VC Rules and Regulations you'll see that within that thread were several instances of rule-breaking. We try to keep things civil around here. Also, as the Rules and Regs state, Regarding Our Moderating Staff Our moderators and administrators are unpaid volunteers. They work long hard hours to enforce our policies and make our forums as pleasant as possible. They deserve your respect and cooperation. If you are contacted about a problem, please work in good faith with the moder

Trouble with the tribute(s) pages
kidsmoke replied to allgodsmoney's topic in Speakers Speaking In Code
I've looked the Tributes Forum over, Rob, and saw the nonloading pages you referred to, as well as the seriously outdated info contained in the forum. For these reasons, I've closed that forum until it can be retooled and revamped. When you see it next, it will all make sense! Then perhaps our members will feel inspired to create Tribute Vol. 3 of "I'm the Fan Who Loves You". -
Could this thread be any stupider? Let's see, to borrow a phrase from Craig Ferguson "What did we learn in the (thread) tonight, Craig?" Basically I think we learned that some people feel that getting rudely trampled, smashed, and otherwise personal-space-invaded (talking here about merely the space one's own body takes up, plus maybe an inch of air around it...too much?) is par for the course at a General Admission event. "To be expected". And that to expect people to behave in a way that wouldn't make their own mothers blanch at what a poor job they'd done civilizing their brats is to exp

Wow. I'm really surprised at how this argument is being made. Look, it's fine if people like being up front enough that they are willing to wait in line a long time, often enjoying that experience and sharing it with friends. You don't have to feel the same. But then if those people wind up in front in a "first come, first served" sort of situation, which GA is, by definition, it is rude of others to crowd in until people are smashed. I'm all for everybody getting a good view and having a good time, but have respect for other peoples' personal space. If you wouldn't crowd in like that in anoth

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Should concerts have a penalty box?

And if there was still some doubt about who was at fault, we could run it in slo-mo or even freeze-frame..."See? Right there! He takes a slight step to the right and his elbow bumps her beer and spills it on her foot!" We'd need somebody to draw on circled bits and arrows. Wendy, you do circled bits, Tangara, you're in charge of little arrows.
