So, what's Irish and stays out all night? Wooden Lawn Furniture! No, wait, that's not it.....ah! "Paddy O' Furniture". Ok, anyway, look what I spent half my summer rebuilding, wood-filling, sanding and painting...wood lawn furniture inherited from an ex-neighbor when they moved away. Basically solid, but their doberman had used the furniture to chew on whenever she was bored or lonely, so it needed medical attention when I got it. Sure turned out pretty! This of course is my dog Noodle.

Those are some gorgeous shots! what kind of camera are you using?
-
You crack me up, Dunja! So glad to hear you had such a marvellous show!
-
Perhaps the interviewer exists in an alternate universe where lunacy prevails. Beck, you got some terrific photos!
-
Oh, go for it, Ken! Any mix you make will be sublime, I'm sure!

Lou, I had a similar situation once, and found a very effective solution...I turned to the pushy (but oh-so-happy!) young lady crowding me and said with a pleasant, if weak, smile: "I'm sorry, but please don't crowd me...it's so warm in here I feel like I might throw up." She got the message and backed away. Guess she didn't want vomit on her shoes.

Congratulations, Jeremy! I hope you'll like the new school.

That's exactly how I've always seen it.

Aw, it's just typical dog days of summer. And how the hey did it get to be Friday already!!! Ben, thanks for your clarification.
-
Well, Ben, I do understand your words, but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

That was a beautiful piece, jff. Thanks for sharing. Speed Racer, I concur with what you've said...I saw that Jay, too. A great talent and a very dedicated guy. Reading a piece like this, I feel even sadder at his early death.

It sounds dismissive to say that those who see Wilco as a collective have a romanticized notion of the band. Obviously, Wilco has a leader. No question about that. But I think viewing the members beyond Jeff as "hired hands" is a very distorted picture of how they function as a band. I don't have a problem with this collective having a leader, in fact I think that's essential. But from years of watching the band, I can't go along with the idea that the members are simply hired hands. That's not the dynamic I see. It's natural that in a band, as anywhere in life, people grow and change and th

Thank you! It'll be our soundtrack for a beach trip tomorrow, along with a few other mixes from this thread!

Ack, Tualla! Just went to burn your mix to disc and discovered it's mixed up and missing a couple of tracks. Here's the download list: 1. I Live A Lot Of Places (Woodpigeon) 2. Proof of Love (Old Man Luedecke) 3. Don't Ever Change (Pink Nasty) 4. Easy Does It (Bonnie "Prince" Billy) 5. No Great Leap (One Hundred Dollars) 6. My Hands 7. Eternal Return (Brakes) 8. Please Yourself (The Broken Family Band) 9. Shine A Light (Wolf Parade) 10. Throw Me to the Rats (Tom Fun Orchestra) 11.

To be completely insincere, both of these developments seem highy probable.

Hahahahaha, twenty minutes of giggling to myself. Thank you.
-
Exactly so.
-
That's great news, Derek! Congratulations! Nice to know these terrific songs will get a wider audience.
-
I so agree! Tualla, I've just read through all your commentary, now how can I not want to hear each and every song, with the framework you've given in mind? So thank you for the time you put into that.
-
I'm the opposite...I prefer a really long mix so that I can put it on, get lost in all the great music, and go about my business without having to stop and change the disc anytime soon. The more music, the better! Tualla, you mix looks terrific! Downloading now. PopTodd, thanks for yours as well!

That is too funny! I knew that voice sounded familiar. I will pass that tidbit along to Mikael when I get the chance. I love that bit from the show where the kids are spraypainting a wall with graffiti...remember that one? "Look around you!" hahahaha

Jeremy! I saw this thread late, but all the very best to you! If those weisenheimers know what's good for them, they'll snap you up! Brennan says hi!

Happy birthday!

I just now finally got around to watching "A River Runs Through It". Beautiful film, any fans here? Next up is Bullitt, because the kiddos have never seen that car chase upon which the rest of reality as we know it is built. (But perhaps I exaggerate slightly.)
