  1. The trick is to get there quite early...say, 4 pm.
  2. Brennan's recording is up: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=526211
  3. I'd rather not close this thread because I think the grieving continues and there are members who'd still like a place to express themselves. Also, I think JerseyMike's comments have been neatly refuted here so I'll leave that be, but add that of course most of us here are offended by comments of that sort & don't agree. Any more speculation of this type will be removed without comment. Get it, people....totally inappropriate and frankly heartless and arrogant to presume you "know" things based on hearsay and speculation. Don't post it here.
  4. These are from the 6/23 show John is midair in this picture.
  5. Thank you, schoenfraun, and well put, M. Chris & sweetheart-mine. I guess we can't help but wonder about the circumstances, within our own minds, because we cared about the man and his music. But it is speculation, and as such is inappropriate and can be incredibly hurtful to those close to Jay the person, who was so much more than just a public figure. Before you post, try to pause and imagine if he had been your own family member...and then if you feel hesitant to post what you were going to, that's your good instincts kicking in, so listen to them. I just feel so much regret that he w
  6. You got some really terrific shots, Maudie! I took bunches (plenty are just blurry messes tho') but haven't really had time to weed through them yet. I'll post some once this week winds down. The lighting this tour has been gorgeous!
  7. Very cool shirt! I love looking at all these pictures! Great stuff. Here's mine from last night. (L.A. 6-23-09)
  8. No, he's right, it really was a snippet from The Price is Right theme. Apparently Glenn's had it stuck in his head lately, so that seems to have been a bit of band teasing. Interesting review, though I'm often surprised by the way Wilco's songs are described by reviewers. This guy's adjectives made my eyebrows shoot up several times!
  9. The Wiltern is a beautiful venue! It's a good size, big but not huge, and is well run. It's in a busy downtown neighborhood with a Ralph's directly adjacent to the parking structure. There are some food places in range...a Starbucks, a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, a McDonald's, a frozen Yogurt place, and I'm sure some other places, though I haven't explored the area too much. The Wiltern also sells some food (like nachos and soft pretzels) and of course drinks, but be warned, it's all quite expensive. See you tomorrow (Tues.) Tonight was a blast! Ack, I need to get to bed, somehow it's 5:45
  10. What an incredibly fun moment it was when Jeff came over to the stage edge...at first it appeared that he was going to sit down on the monitor there, and maybe play for the kids, but then I realized he was judging the distance between the stage and the rail we were standing at. A second later he crouched and jumped down onto the low bench attached to the front rail, so that he was smack in front of me, Alissa, and the adorable brother and sister who were right next to us with their dad and auntie. In the jump, Jeff leaped right onto the half-a-Sierra-Nevada-Pale-Ale I had set there, saving it
  11. Is it time to leave for the show yet?
  12. Please say hi to me as well! Let's see, I think I'll be wearing a colorblocked blue & green shirt with sequins. And jeans. And I'll have in tow a 13-yr-old girl with attitude and long blonde hair, also a taller-than-me-these-days 18-yr-old kiddo named Brennan. Please, come identify yourselves & say hello! This is going to be great!!!!!
  13. After the show. Either behind the venue, or look for the tour bus. Unless there's been a bad incident during a show (such as once in Springfield, MO when a drunken jerk jumped onstage and grabbed Jeff) I have never known the band to be reclusive, far from it! They are very generous with meeting the fans after a show and autographing things and even happily posing for pictures, so bring a camera. More than once I've seen Jeff notice a fan who seemed a little shy but was carrying a camera, and it was Jeff who spoke up and said, "Would you like a picture?". I've always thought that was so sweet o
  14. I know you'll do great on your exam, Bea!
  15. It is ridiculous how much I missed this place! Nonetheless I used my off time productively, learning how to play the flute, how to pour concrete, how to do simply sums on my fingers, and as you'll all have noticed by now, I've brokered peace in the Middle East (You're welcome). Solace, we thank you for all your labors on the behalf of our much-loved site.
  16. You just do what you've gotta do, Kyle, and thanks for it. I imagine this buncha yahoos can survive a few days (or more) of pm/profile deprivation without whining like sick puppies. Maybe puppies, but not sick ones. Is "performance mode" also the reason I'm not getting email notification of anything? Also (the mom in me) I hope you are wearing sturdy shoes when you're kicking things, young man.
  17. Hey Kyle, I was going to pm you to ask why I'm not getting any email notifications of topic replies, although all my settings are correct & I redid them just to be certain. But I have just discovered this message when I try to use pm's: [#10227] You are not allowed to use the private messaging system. Hmmmph. Can't see profiles either, including my own, but maybe that's something you've set to keep our usage under limits?
  18. Ok, well, this thread has said whatever it may have had to say and run its course, so I'm calling it: time of death, 7:17 PST. Let's move on to other discussions. Nothing to see here, folks.

  20. "View new content" - upper right on a page...is that what you're after? By the way, your little package got mailed, so watch that mailbox!
  21. Ok, well it turns out that I couldn't get to my pm's ("My Conversations") because stupid IE8 doesn't fully get this board...firefox does just fine. IE8 is just loading a blank page or an error message when I try to visit the forums. And I'm still thinking about whacking the monitor to see if it brings back the emoticons. Either that or fiddling with the vertical hold dial....
  22. That's a really sad story. Pray for a miracle for that child, she needs one. I can't imagine anything worse than losing a child.
