  1. It is ridiculous how much I missed this place! Nonetheless I used my off time productively, learning how to play the flute, how to pour concrete, how to do simply sums on my fingers, and as you'll all have noticed by now, I've brokered peace in the Middle East (You're welcome). Solace, we thank you for all your labors on the behalf of our much-loved site.
  2. You just do what you've gotta do, Kyle, and thanks for it. I imagine this buncha yahoos can survive a few days (or more) of pm/profile deprivation without whining like sick puppies. Maybe puppies, but not sick ones. Is "performance mode" also the reason I'm not getting email notification of anything? Also (the mom in me) I hope you are wearing sturdy shoes when you're kicking things, young man.
  3. Hey Kyle, I was going to pm you to ask why I'm not getting any email notifications of topic replies, although all my settings are correct & I redid them just to be certain. But I have just discovered this message when I try to use pm's: [#10227] You are not allowed to use the private messaging system. Hmmmph. Can't see profiles either, including my own, but maybe that's something you've set to keep our usage under limits?
  4. Ok, well, this thread has said whatever it may have had to say and run its course, so I'm calling it: time of death, 7:17 PST. Let's move on to other discussions. Nothing to see here, folks.
  5. From the VC Rules and Regulations: Regarding Forum Etiquette It is our intention at Via Chicago to foster an online community that is welcoming, all-ages friendly, and enjoyable for all our membership. Toward that end, we expect all posts to be civil and respectful. The following will not be tolerated:
  6. "View new content" - upper right on a page...is that what you're after? By the way, your little package got mailed, so watch that mailbox!
  7. Ok, well it turns out that I couldn't get to my pm's ("My Conversations") because stupid IE8 doesn't fully get this board...firefox does just fine. IE8 is just loading a blank page or an error message when I try to visit the forums. And I'm still thinking about whacking the monitor to see if it brings back the emoticons. Either that or fiddling with the vertical hold dial....
  8. That's a really sad story. Pray for a miracle for that child, she needs one. I can't imagine anything worse than losing a child.
  9. What's the story on pm's? Also, I know you said not to adjust our sets, solace, but can I give the monitor one little whack on the side and see if that makes the missing emoticons come back? Ok? I promise not to mess with the horizontal.
  10. That's pretty weird. They couldn't find a clip with Jay?!
  11. Why is it that we can never seem to remember that none of us has any real idea when our time will come? This makes me want to pause in my busy tracks and just breathe a prayer of thankfulness for everyone and everything I love in my life. I've been really sad since this news broke, but I'm realizing that wherever Jay's spirit has moved on to (I do believe the spirit lives on) he is not in any pain from his hip, and has none of life's sadnesses there with him. Bless you, Jay, for the beauty you brought into my life. I'll be listening for all my days, I'm sure.
  12. Thank you for the photos, Carlitos, and welcome to Via Chicago! What an amazing-sounding show, and wow, what a venue! (Thanks for the description, Paul.) Love Jeff's comment on it! Ms. Sunken Mountain, so glad you had a fantastic time!
  13. I sent him an email but haven't heard back. Man, I'm just feeling all washed out with sadness. I wish Jay'd had many more years to create beautiful music.
  14. I hate to say it but this seems to be true. How sad, if so.
  15. Wilcogirl! I remember you! (Though I can't remember your real-life name) Come around here more often, it's nice to see you! Thanks for the good wishes. I'm overdue for a brief lull in the action, before I gear up for both my boys graduating in the same week....Brennan from high school on the 9th, and Tom from UC Riverside on the 13th. We're all hoping the folks will feel well enough to attend the graduations, but right now I'm satisfied just to have them home from the hospital!
  16. Thank you, all! It's been a complicated few days...when my stepmom was down at the hospital on the day of my dad's angiogram, her replaced hip was giving her so much pain that she wound up admitted too! But she is also home now.
  17. Well then there isn't going to be very much left for me! My dad's home from the hospital! He's feeling pretty well.
  18. Aw Jen, that's lousy!!! But you know you are just making yourself crazy, right? Take yourself out to a nice dinner and an entertaining movie...something distracting, yes!...and then get a good night's sleep so that you are fresh as a daisy to get up tomorrow and receive the excellent news you'll be getting. Love you, sweetie. This'll all be over very soon.
  19. Not to get insistent, but it's "Synthesizer Patel".
  20. Damn, you guys are amazing! So they went in to do the angiogram & wound up looking around and deciding it was unnecessary (Isn't the angioplasty supposed to determine this?) and have opted to handle Dad's condition with a medication instead. I just talked to him & he seemed exhausted but otherwise just fine. What a relief!!! Thank you so much for sending such powerful vibes that the entire procedure became unnecessary. Now them's some potent vibes!
  21. Hey All, My dad's in the hospital after a scary bit on Sunday when he thought he might be having a heart attack. The good news is, he didn't, but due to the results of his heart stress test done just last Thursday, his docs have him scheduled for an angiogram today, at 1 p.m. He's had two before, and came through both just fine, but he's 86 and of course I worry! If anyone has some spare vibes, or a moment or two to send up a prayer, I'd sure appreciate it.
  22. How fast can you take a picture?
