  1. What's the story on pm's? Also, I know you said not to adjust our sets, solace, but can I give the monitor one little whack on the side and see if that makes the missing emoticons come back? Ok? I promise not to mess with the horizontal.
  2. That's pretty weird. They couldn't find a clip with Jay?!
  3. Why is it that we can never seem to remember that none of us has any real idea when our time will come? This makes me want to pause in my busy tracks and just breathe a prayer of thankfulness for everyone and everything I love in my life. I've been really sad since this news broke, but I'm realizing that wherever Jay's spirit has moved on to (I do believe the spirit lives on) he is not in any pain from his hip, and has none of life's sadnesses there with him. Bless you, Jay, for the beauty you brought into my life. I'll be listening for all my days, I'm sure.
  4. Thank you for the photos, Carlitos, and welcome to Via Chicago! What an amazing-sounding show, and wow, what a venue! (Thanks for the description, Paul.) Love Jeff's comment on it! Ms. Sunken Mountain, so glad you had a fantastic time!
  5. I sent him an email but haven't heard back. Man, I'm just feeling all washed out with sadness. I wish Jay'd had many more years to create beautiful music.
  6. I hate to say it but this seems to be true. How sad, if so.
  7. Wilcogirl! I remember you! (Though I can't remember your real-life name) Come around here more often, it's nice to see you! Thanks for the good wishes. I'm overdue for a brief lull in the action, before I gear up for both my boys graduating in the same week....Brennan from high school on the 9th, and Tom from UC Riverside on the 13th. We're all hoping the folks will feel well enough to attend the graduations, but right now I'm satisfied just to have them home from the hospital!
  8. Thank you, all! It's been a complicated few days...when my stepmom was down at the hospital on the day of my dad's angiogram, her replaced hip was giving her so much pain that she wound up admitted too! But she is also home now.
  9. Well then there isn't going to be very much left for me! My dad's home from the hospital! He's feeling pretty well.
  10. Aw Jen, that's lousy!!! But you know you are just making yourself crazy, right? Take yourself out to a nice dinner and an entertaining movie...something distracting, yes!...and then get a good night's sleep so that you are fresh as a daisy to get up tomorrow and receive the excellent news you'll be getting. Love you, sweetie. This'll all be over very soon.
  11. Not to get insistent, but it's "Synthesizer Patel".
  12. Damn, you guys are amazing! So they went in to do the angiogram & wound up looking around and deciding it was unnecessary (Isn't the angioplasty supposed to determine this?) and have opted to handle Dad's condition with a medication instead. I just talked to him & he seemed exhausted but otherwise just fine. What a relief!!! Thank you so much for sending such powerful vibes that the entire procedure became unnecessary. Now them's some potent vibes!
  13. Hey All, My dad's in the hospital after a scary bit on Sunday when he thought he might be having a heart attack. The good news is, he didn't, but due to the results of his heart stress test done just last Thursday, his docs have him scheduled for an angiogram today, at 1 p.m. He's had two before, and came through both just fine, but he's 86 and of course I worry! If anyone has some spare vibes, or a moment or two to send up a prayer, I'd sure appreciate it.
  14. How fast can you take a picture?
  15. Jen, continuing vibes coming your way. As for the obese cat, if you try it just let go slowly and be mindful of whether Fatty can bear his or her own weight.
  16. Well, in my lighthearted story-telling I have clearly given the wrong impression, so let me clarify: first, this was not a tiny child, but an 8-yr-old. Any younger and I wouldn't even have considered bringing her. Second, this is a child who, at this age anyway, always "need(ed) to pee"...hence our earlier precautionary bathroom run. My actual comment to her when she said that was more along the lines of an exasperated "Really need to? Or can you hold it?" She assured me she was ok. As for the bathroom line, in no way did either of us ask to be given front-of-line status, it was simply that, s
  17. Jen, What a glorious relief! I know you won't completely relax until the lab has reported back, but for now, this is such wonderful news, and I'll bet you are just so thrilled to have it & have the procedure over with. Instead of swinging the cat around, try this, which is harmless but you must only do it for a second. This comes courtesy of my 18-yr-old Brennan (you remember Brennan!) who learned it from his biology teacher. Hang the cat in a doorway! If you hold your cat up to the top of a door frame, in the middle, the cat will instinctively shoot out his paws and can be let go of* to
  18. I agree with all the common sense considerations that have been mentioned...you do need to stay conscious that you are your child's buffer from any oddness or rough crowd behavior, and remember to see through your child's eyes a bit. You don't want to start out with the best of intentions, thinking, "There's no way to explain this experience in words, but I want my child to see what I get so happy and uplifted and excited about!".....and then have it devolve into an experience that overwhelms and even maybe scares the child. But having said that, it's also been my experience that concertgoer
  19. Maybe so. There is beautiful simplicity here, but there is no dearth of terrific, thoughtful lyrics either. I hope you come to like it more. Personally I'm loving it, obviously.
  20. Hey Junior, You seem to be getting unnecessarily bent out of shape here...our forum policies do specifically request that members not start threads if an existing thread covers the same ground. This is simply a practical consideration which helps to keep the board readable and uncluttered. Please, if you wish to post here, abide by these rules. Of course this applies to all members. Thanks, kidsmoke
  21. This reminder seems necessary...from the Via Chicago Forum Policies: "Please also abide by the following common sense guidelines:
  22. Jesse! Have a wonderful day, worthy of videotaping! Since you're the big cheese of Wilco DVD's A cheeseburger? No! This cheeseburger's faux! This cake had you snowed! You may eat it, you know Though the virtual taste won't go to your waist You may damage your computer if you chew on it so maybe you'd better not.* * The foregoing original composition is an example of why kidsmoke will never write lyrics.
