  1. And the Obviousness Award goes to Froggie!!! Good one, your frogishness! Especially coming as it does from someone who has Christmas in the summertime! Do you Aussies give each other beachballs and tanning lotion and surfboards for Christmas? I wonder things like this.
  2. I like all of those! And y'know what, despite its title, Summer Teeth seems wintery to me. Cold and lonely. Funny the mood a song can create.
  3. So I was thinking about this last night, and reflecting on how so very many of Jeff's songs contain summery imagery. That led to me thinking about which Wilco songs are more Fall or (especially) Winter themed/oriented/suggestive. I don't mean strictly songs that have a harsher "severe-weather" sort of feeling, but also those songs that have the overall feel of the season, including the season's more cocooned feelings....those feelings that the weather and the holidays give, of drawing closer together to our families and loved ones, and maybe retreating a little from the larger world. I hope
  4. I could listen to Mikael's spin on the world all day. Damn he's a funny guy. Great interview, thanks for sharing!
  5. This is better than the song I wrote the other day, "What About Bananas?" Well, maybe it is.
  6. Yikes, you poor folks! I wish you a warm crackling fire and some lovely cups of hot buttered rum! Stay safe and as warm as possible, and may Thor (or whoever the god of modern heating and light is) quickly restore these to your lives!
  7. .....it's snowing in New Orleans! White Christmas, anybody?
  8. Oh, Wendy, that looks fabulous!
  9. Haha, sorry 'bout that Wendy, but just think of all those happy Wilco-loving homes next Thanksgiving, filled with good music and the smells of roasting turkey and green beans with Italian "salsa" fresh tomato topping.....and Edie's spinach! I ask you, is this a lovely image or what?
  10. That sounds excellent, Wendy! Why don't you share the recipe here so we can all steal it!
  11. My green bean casserole is fabulous, but I mostly ignore the standard recipe and wing it. Let's see, our dinner included: a 22-lb. turkey (about 20 pounds of terrific leftovers, yay!) stuffing mashed potatoes gravy green bean casserole layered salad pickles! olives! sometimes stuck on fingertips in the traditional manner ambrosia homemade yeast rolls pistachio-crusted cheese log raspberry trifle pumpkin pie still untouched because we ran out of room I think that's it. Wow, we are so lucky to have such abundance of good things! Edie, please share the spinach recipe!
  12. So sad...and far too young to die.
  13. That was fabulous! Compliments to your friend. I almost got to see the Kinks once.....had tickets for a tour sometime about, I think, 1980? But Ray and Dave got into a big fistfight the night before the show I was going to see, and cancelled the rest of the tour. I was SO pissed!!!! Worse yet, they patched things up a day later and resumed the tour.....so the only date missed was the one I had tickets for! Doesn't it just figure! Maybe someday, huh?
  14. A Mt. Bed kiss almost makes up for my lack of Barackian emailage.
  15. Well hey, where's my sweet little note from Barack? Ah well, I'll settle for this victory.
  16. I'm not sure why you're having problems, Tam. You aren't on suspension or anything, and your account seems to be in normal working order.
  17. It was a terrific speech! There was even a puppy in it!
  18. Last I checked, the damned thing was passing, if you can believe that....by 55% to 45%. I'm going to be ill if it passes. Pure prejudice. It's early yet, so I'm still hopeful.
  19. You mean Joe the Plunger. Sorry....it's the champagne talking. I was moved by McCain's speech. Very classy.
  20. I've opened 100 bottles of champagne for y'all.....they are in the break room, somebody start passing them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok 98......these two are mine!
  21. We must live vicariously through all our VC compatriots on this one! Celebrate hard for all of us, those of you lucky enough to be in attendance in Grant Park!!! (Or, as this British-accented CNN person calls it, "Grandpa") WOOHOO! :party :party
  22. My boys and I spent hours Saturday phoning into the wilds of Ohio.....YAY!!!!! I'm personally claiming this victory...it must've been our suave phone calls that turned 'em for Obama!
