Thanks for this thread, Wendy dearest. We appreciate VC'ers like yourself, too.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to keeping our little online "home" running smoothly. Keep those subscriptions coming!

They are rather fond of stuffed elephants.
The political leanings surface so early these days!
-
Funny. I thought it was uber-conservative kooks. You know, the type who think we shouldn't have any government whatsoever and we should all join our local militia group.
Unless you were being sarcastic. Then, nevermind.
Kinsley, are you telling us you haven't got those twins signed up yet for the Bush Youth?
Just think how cute they'd look in the teeny uniforms!

their new record (due at the end of January) just leaked yesterday...
....and it's....
the future of rock & roll?
deplorable?
meh.

Well Kyle? Wellwellwell?

i love loose change because i can use it with high school students to teach them to read between the lines. selectively picked facts can make a really good sounding case, until you look deeper. the melting point of steel thing was such an awesome teachable moment. while it's totally true that jet fuel fires can't melt steel, it's not true that the steel needs to melt to lose enough of it's tenstile properties and collapse under weight.
Sounds like you are the kind of teacher we need more of, Anodyne.
I've spent my kids' whole lives reminding them to consider the source & examine the facts in whatever news or advertising they see. I hope they will go out into the world as intelligent citizens and consumers.

I had the idea for while and wanted to share it. Was not trying to take a shot on anyone, I like the birth of AGIB idea.
Seriously, please do put this set together! I'll even make cover art for it if you like. And when you're ready to put it together, let me know & I'll send my trade list for you to look over for songs you might want to include.

Well now kidsmoke feels stupid, a not-uncommon occurrence for her.
Big apologies to you, run_run_run! I totally did not see your earlier post where you detailed the actual solo Tweedy set you'd like to make (a terrific idea by the way). I misread your later post as a jab at mpolak. I guess it comes of frequently needing to break up little VC squabbles. Again,
.....and if you ever get your project going, I've got some great solo dates to offer for your use.
jhc, thank you for clarifying the fog surrounding kidsmoke's brain....
-
*sigh*
So did you actually have a project in mind which you planned to make and then share with other Wilco fans here at VC? Or were you just taking a potshot at mpolak?
Perhaps you were making some joke which is evading my normally dependable sense of humor?
-
Would anyone be able to hook me up with a large chuck of tweedy for my project? I would appreciate it.
Ah yes, good thinking there......but with mpolak, you see, the rest of us will actually get a project to enjoy.....

Have a wonderful birthday & year, Sam!
Cake for everybody!!!
Better get your piece first, Sam....this gang looks hungry!

Does anyone have the 9-2-2002 Bumbershoot Festival or the 9-6-2002 show from the Warfield in San Fransisco. I am curious to hear the Spiders from either of these shows to see if they are any different from the early versions of it from the spring 2002 dates or if it sounds like the 10-14-2002 boot.
Any opinions on the pre-drone Less Than You Think or the pre-windmill I'm a Wheel?
--Mike
I love the 9-9-02 John Anson Ford version of that (Los Angeles). They opened with it, and Jeff sang the whole thing totally lost in the song, eyes closed.....it was gorgeous.
-
Wow, how sad, and how very young he was.
Had small children too, I believe.

RIP, Steve.

Even later than Judy to the party....
.....but I join wholehearted in the Celebration of Paul!
Here's the cake...
Marge is gonna be pissed when she finds out her cake is missing!
and a toast to you!
Sorry it's blurry.....we, ah, had a bit before you showed up.....
.......Hey! Somebody get Paul a glass!
I hope this will prove to be a wonderful year in your life!
-
I think I have been late for every single birthday that has taken place this summer, so my apologies, Jeff!
But I honored you on your birthday by taking an all-day beach trip during which many Wilco songs blasted from our car stereo, perhaps loud enough that you heard them?
All the Murphys wish you the happiest and most successful year of your life, and we'd like to tell you this in person, so obviously a trip to California is in order, yes? We have been too long without a live Wilco show, but of course we will wait as patiently as we are able.
Have some cake, and celebrate yourself along with us, for all the music and memories and good times and friendships.
Love from all us knuckleheads at Via Chicago!
-
In a fair world "O Valencia" would be a massive hit.
This is a fabulous song to play loudly on a gorgeous summer day as you drive Pacific Coast Highway. I speak from happy experience.
It's a song I know is going to always recall Summer of '06 for me....you know, how some songs just become inextricably linked to the time when you first fell for their charms?
-
i hear what you're saying, but Sons & Daughters kinda gives me those same feelings as those other tracks for me...
Yeah, Sons & Daughters is great.

Donna, I guess we will have to have a serious word in 4 weeks. It can't be accepted that an admin on this board buys their confetti at the same store that still sells things to Hasseldoof
Well not knowingly, for God's sake!
-
And what's with all the 'David' confetti, Donna?
Damn that confetti store! They obviously mixed my order up with somebody else's!
Sorry, Sue....it's the thought, right?
I wonder if, right at this very moment, David Hasslehoff is being showered happily with "Susan" confetti by his oblivious friends.....
-
Geez Louise, I'm being late to absolutely everything lately!
At any rate, happiest of birthdays, Susan, belated though these wishes are! Thanks for all the kindness and consideration you always show the fans.
Here dear, cake is in order!
(I w00t because I know that you, true to character, will share this virtual cake with all of us, am I right?)(Well of course I am.)
I may have misspelled your name a bit on the cake there.....
By the way, your birthday is Alissa's half-birthday. (She only got half a cake.)

I took the Wilco BBQ photo. Which one did you take...?
That BBQ picture was one of my absolute favorites! What a cool, creative idea!
I'm also crazy about that one you posted, Maudie! Love the colors in it.

After I sent in my entry, which was doctored to show me vacationing on the moon in my wilco shirt, they changed the rules to say "No Photoshopped pics please...".
I guess they didn't like my picture very much
Cute idea, but you still cheated. You need to actually go to the moon, like Lance Bass tried to. (I tried to help by sending a donation, too.
No damned luck.)
You should post your picture on VC so we can enjoy it, though.

Hello All-
I was just wondering if any of you won the photo contest on the band's website? If so, have you received your autographed poster...? What does it look like? I am just beginning to get anxious. It has been several weeks & nothing has arrived as of yet...
I'd cool my jets if I were you, we're all on Lackadaisical Summer Time (LST) and things tend to move very slowly in this system of reality, which I believe Wilco and their website are also following.

Seems like an innocent enough topic question to me, but since it's been taken the way it has (and by request of its originator) I hereby declare this thread closed.
Sheesh, everybody.
Can't you play nice in the sandbox?
