  1. I requested "You Are My Face." I think I posted that earlier in the thread, but this is my first chance to post as Col. Hapablap, and i took it. ~Aaron
  2. My older brother was the same way. One time i bought him an alarm that had the sound of a rooster crowing. It was very loud and annoying and woke up everyone in the house instantly....except him of course.
  3. This brings to mind my experience from the Tweedy show i saw at the Vic a couple of years ago. One of the songs Jeff played was "Dash 7." That song could easily fit the "obscure die-hard fan request" description. Before that show, "Dash 7" was one of those songs that i did not pay too much attention to. In fact, right after Jeff played it, there was kind of a muted reaction to it from most of the crowd. i remember he said something like "why aren't more people clapping for that song? I've gotten requests to play that song for the past ten years!" The funny thing is that since i heard him play
  4. Edie let me take a look at that book. I was impressed with the intensity of the report. It's very convincing. With that kind of effort, I cant see how you wouldn't get the band to play there eventually. Good luck to everyone involved. I hope you succeed. Really now.....Styx? My God, you've got to be kidding me. I cant find the vomit emotocon, so i'll just use this instead.
  5. I would imagine the show will be posted within the next few weeks. It'll probably be on bt.etree or dimeadozen or a similar site. A little patience is required, but it'll be worth it.
  6. Ok, where do i start? What a terrific show that was. I got to hear lots of songs that aren't usually played, including my personal request "You Are My Face," which is currently my favorite song on SBS. I really wasn't sure if he was going to play that one, but i am very pleased that i was there to witness the first public performance of such a great song and i am grateful to Jeff for playing it. I always loved hearing him do "The Auld Triangle" too. That was another highlight that stood out for me. Jeff was really funny up there, more so than usual. He interacted very well with the audience,
  7. If you mean Beatles remasters..... The current Beatles cds sound like crap. More Neil Young remasters would be great too, but the archives set will come out before that happens, and i'd rather have the archives set first.
  8. Apple is at least realizing that we are in the internet age for good and they support new technology. http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=27695
  9. That i can agree with. Neither Jeff Tweedy nor Wilco are perfect, which is actually why i admire them so much. Knowing all of the issues and imperfections that they have overcome to make music actually endears me to them that much more. I agree with the opinion that on SBS, Tweedy seems to be showing a side of himself that he has always wanted to come out. He's been through a lot of shit and has finally come out the other side with his body. mind, and soul intact and the album reflects that peaceful mood. I don't think SBS is their best record, or my favorite(not yet, anyway) but it certainl
  10. Right. I'm not saying he's completely wrong but I don't understand his angle. "I still love them. They are really good but my goodness, don't they suck? They are so boring.' It's hard to make a case that you still like the band. There are plenty of contradictory statements in the argument. A few may be valid, but its Kind of a strange post...hard to respond to and harder still to agree with it.
  11. If you enjoy internet radio, you need to check out this website....this is potentially very scary news. I just hope that it doesn't happen. Hopefully we all can stop this from happening. http://www.savethestreams.org/
  12. http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/technology/...i-apple.html?hp Apple to Sell EMI
  13. I decided to click on the "Professional Installation Service" for this new product, and a fake error message came up, complete with links to other Google April Fools Day jokes. Hilarious. http://www.google.com/tisp/notfound.html
  14. I'm thinking that maybe the video download will be part of the DVD.
  15. I didnt get the email yet. This is a myspace bulletin from the band sent out today....the DVD will be called Shake It Off. From: WILCO Date: Mar 30, 2007 5:12 PM Subject Hear the New Album on Monday Body: Greetings friends, As part of our ongoing effort to rock the homes, offices, dorms, and internet cafes of America and the world -- we're starting another on-demand stream of Sky Blue Sky on Sunday night at 12:01am US Central time and continuing it non-stop for 24 straight hours. Make a note of it. Also, we've just decided to release a "deluxe version" of SBS that will inclu
  16. I'm in too. I'm impressed that the facebook network has as many Wilco related groups as they do. I joined a few others that i looked up after i joined the SBS. There's even an Uncle Tupelo group and a Jay Bennett group. FYI, there is one group there that pisses me off...the supposed fan/idiot who ruined a concert and got punched by Tweedy last year decided to make a facebook group about the incident, complete with a link to the pitchfork article and the youtube video documenting his couple minutes of fame. I suspect he did it to continue to bring some further undeserved attention to himsel
  17. Warning: Please refrain from feeding the troll....thank you.
  18. I've been waiting for this news for at least the last decade..... March 20, 2007, 5:40 PM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. After being out of print for more than a decade, the two studio albums from all-star band the Traveling Wilburys will return to the marketplace in a variety of formats June 12 via Wilbury Records/Rhino, Billboard.com has learned. "Traveling Wilburys Volume 1" and "Traveling Wilburys Volume 3" will be available together in one package with bonus tracks and a DVD of rare footage, as a deluxe linen-bound edition, a vinyl set and a digital bundle. The DVD boasts a 24-minute doc
  19. It was recorded. Somebody put it up on dimeadozen. Golden Smog-The Vic enjoy!
  20. The new Son Volt album has been Oinked. I'm listening to it now.
  21. Where is Loose Fur on that list? I thought "The Ruling Class" alone might get them on there. That entire record is "anti-christian!" Thats not really my view of course, but i think someone who is like the creator of that website would think so.
  22. For some reason, quicktime wont even let me acess the download menu anymore. I used to be able to at least open a menu, now i get nothing. Any idea why?
  23. Si also quoted Pat Tillman as saying the war was illegial. He apparently told some of the guys in his unit that he felt this way. I guess he felt it was a duty to serve his country in war, but he didnt agree with the Iraq war's aims. The SI article really paints a different picture of Pat and his family than the rest of the media has, yet the Tillman brothers are no less heroic, in my opinion at least, for feeling the way they do.
  24. I'll be recording this too just in case.
  25. Agreed....I was gonna say that, and forgot to put that in. That guy has the goods. He was the only Cardinal who didnt do a Dennis Green Special and fold in the forth quarter. Even in that last drive, he took it right to the Bears and we were fortunate to win in spite of his effort.
