Yeah, that is sort of a weird version. Perhaps I was already too obsessed with the original by the time I had heard that one, but for some reason it just irks me.
-
Really? I hate that version. Mostly because Lou's singing was absolutely terrible on that entire set. "Venus in Furs" is definately one of my favorites though.
-
I think that "Sweet Jane" is probably their best known at this point, but "Heroin" is up there, and definately more essential to understanding the importance of the band than "Sweet Jane" is.

Sheff seems to be heating up. Good thing -- I recognize that it was still early, but he didn't really do a whole lot after he came back from injury last season, and seeing as he's 38 or 39 or something now, I wasn't convinced that he wasn't pretty much done. He still may be, but hopefully his play in the last week will be more indicative of how the rest of the season will be than the previous several.

I first really got into rock music when I was about 12. Early on it was the popular stuff of the day (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, REM), plus some older hard rock stuff (Aerosmith, Zeppelin). I first heard the Velvet Underground when I was 13. I had read some of my musical heros at the time name check them, so I picked up VU, the outtakes set that was released in the '80s. I liked it, but wasn't blown away. But then I was given the Peel Slowly and See boxed set as a gift later that year. The first time I heard "Heroin" my mind was completely blown. And this was in the mid-90s. I can only im

My favorite song of all time. My favorite version that Lou Reed has done live is in the box set he released in the late '80s, Between Thought and Expression, from the late '70s, recorded with Don Cherry (Ornette Coleman's trumpet player). Really jazzy version.

Mike Myers owes Phil Hughes an apology.
-
I'm going to go ahead and guess that you have him on your fantasy team. Am I right?
-
Okay, now he seems to have injured himself and is being yanked, with the no hitter still intact. Not really what I was going for.

HEY EVERYBODY!!! PHIL HUGHES IS THROWING A NO HITTER IN THE 7TH INNING!!! NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER Don't mind me. It's just that I hate the Yankees, so I'm hoping an old stupid baseball superstition may be true just this once.

Oh, I see. He gets Kris Benson's old roster spot.

The sad thing is, there was a time in my life where I sort of liked Jose Lima, because he was one of the best players on the Tigers. Forget the 119 loss season, having Jose Lima as the future of your team is the lowest of the low.
-
Jose Lima is still around? It's still Lima Time in NYC? Why?

I'm honestly not that surprised that the Bulls won the series, but I certainly did not expect a sweep. Combination of Wade and Shaq not being at full strength, but also the Bulls being a legitimately better team than I had been giving them credit for.
-
Bah! What was it?
-
Oh man. I am so psyched for this series. Of course, if the Pistons lose, I will be the subject of ridicule around the office, at least until the Bulls get knocked off. Anyway, I think it will be a good series. The Bulls are playing at the top of the game right now, and the Pistons seem to have their game working as well. I predict Pistons in 6, with pretty much every game being a close one.

Bring it.

Oh, what rippling muscles! We don't want to kill you.

I am not pleased with Joel Zumaya right now.

That's a bit dramatic.

I don't really like that one either.
