  1. Surprised that "Heroin" made such an early appearance.
  2. That was a profoundly horrible performance. That was at the peak of Frusciante hating being in the band, and it really came out on that SNL appearance. He was really stoned, and seemingly playing a completely different song than the rest of the band.
  3. I liked him best in This is Spinal Tap. A most excellent actor. I didn't know he was even ill. Very sad.
  4. I think the official scorer there gives a lot of slack for fielders dealing with that tiny foul territory. But that's a great example of why the error stat is so meaningless. It's completely a judgement call.
  5. Yep. Polanco got hurt late in the game. The normal backup second baseman is Omar Infante, who had started the game playing thirdbase. But by the time of that injury, Infante had already been pulled for Inge. So they brought in Vance Wilson to catch and moved Pudge to second. It was only for an inning or two.
  6. It sucks that Placido Polanco is out now, but I must say, it was pretty exciting seeing the highlight of Pudge making the play running down that fly ball while playing second base.
  7. I don't know why it would inherently make it the best ever. Just because it has no bad tracks on it doesn't mean that every track is amazing or anything...I think a double album with a couple bad songs but a handful of transcendent ones would top an album with 28 good but not great songs. And there are a few on Stadium Arcadium that are pretty great but...well, I think you probably get my point. Also, although almost all double albums suffer to some degree from lack of cohesion, this one does more than most. Every song stands very well on it's own, but as a straight-through listen, it can
  8. JF may be the finest axeman around right now. Even those who don't like RHCP should be able to acknowledge that. And I think a lot of people who are hating on the new album have some pre-conceived notions about them. Not liking them is one thing, but the hatred that some people have towards them seems pretty undeserved, IMO. And I really don't think any of it sounds like anything else on the radio right now, although I do acknowledge that most of it is pretty easy to swallow. By the Way was sort of hit or miss, but there's not a bad track on the new one. In my opinion at least.
  9. I still listen to RHCP. Their new album is fan-fucking-tastic. That being said, I wonder if Chad Smith is aware that there are like 4 songs from that new album being used in commercials on ESPN right now.
  10. I'm sure it hurts to see winning teams dismantled, but as someone who's team last won a World Series when I was two years old, I think I would happily take a championship team that was dismantled the next year over a team that never wins a championship. There are a lot of teams who have gone way longer than that without a championship and I'm sure those fans feel the same way. The reason there are "Let's Go Mets" chants when the Mets play in Florida is because there are a shit ton of New Yorkers who live in southern Florida. Simple as that.
  11. Oh, he was way better last year, but even last year he wasn't close to being a serious Cy Young candidate. And this year he's been mostly terrible. The idea of giving the Cy Young Award to a reliever who's ERA is almost 5.00 might be the dumbest I've ever heard in relation to baseball. I can't believe this guy gets paid to write about sports.
  12. Yeah, Todd Jones plays for my team, but I still think that this guy is a complete moron.
  13. I really want to see Big Black, even if it is only a couple of songs.
  14. Not at me, but I did see him staring down some people in the audience...I'm assuming young ladies. If he weren't Billy Zoom, he'd probably creep a lot of people out. Man, that guy can play though.
  15. Good thing my man 'Los Guillen got in there to stop him from doing something crazier. He actually got to him pretty quickly, so the blow up was brief.
  16. I'm not even sure what emo is anymore. It used to be Rites of Spring (and any kids getting into Rites of Spring right now should be commended). Somehow it later evolved into Weezer type stuff, which can be hit or miss...and then I don't know how it came to mean what it means now. Most of the stuff that's called emo now sounds like whiny guitar-pop to me. Not even close to what the term used to mean. Anyway, I'm not that old now (24) but getting old enough now to not at all relate to a lot of the stuff that kids listen to now. As far as complete garbage goes, it could get worse than Brigh
  17. A very creative and touching tribute. And your daughter really could not look happier. Thanks for posting this.
