  1. I should amend my statement to say that yes, the process of working through this whole mess is too much to deal with and still attend to the state's business. I agree with that completely. I just meant that I don't think that the actual act of paying a prostitute for sex matters at all. Certainly the time it will take him to deal with the fall out of it does matter though, and does make it impossible for him to continue doing his duties as governor.
  2. His flings on the side are not relevent though. The fact that he's a big hypocrite is. If he had never said a word about prostitution or worked to fight it then this would be a completely non-story as far as I'm concerned.
  3. Spitzer has been charged with no crime at this point. Just because there are no charges does not mean there is no crime -- when the people in power are the ones being investigated, there is a lot that they can do to make sure that no one is charged. And it is a lot easier for them to get away with when the media is putting no pressure on them whatsoever. Take a look at the Justice Department over the last several years and tell me that they aren't covering up some pretty major crimes at many levels of the administration. Also, Scooter Libby was charged with a crime. He was even convicte
  4. The Bush Administration's lawbreaking is just as cut and dry, people are just too afraid or ignorant to do anything about it. Just because they make arguments does not mean they are at all valid -- most of them are blatantly dishonest. And yeah, that clouds the debate and makes it sound more nuanced than it is, but that does not mean that the arguements are legitimate ones. Again, I'm not defending Spitzer at all (though I'm more concerned with his rank hypocrisy than with the act of having sex with a prostitute -- if he hadn't made his name busting prostitution rings I really wouldn't ca
  5. I think perhaps you missed the point.
  6. Spitzer's an idiot, but I still can't believe how big a deal this is being made out to be considering the crazy Consitution-dismantling criminality of the last 8 years that has gone by with little notice.
  7. As Pitchfork is becoming more of a brand name, I think that they will start to book more bands that they're actively pushing -- more new bands and less bands leaning on a catalogue. Just a guess though.
  8. I'm pretty sure you now owe MLB some money for saying "Red Sox".
  9. I don't see how claiming a call to serve (which could be metaphorical) is the same as Bush saying that God spoke to him directly. It's just not the same thing.
  10. I don't know if we're supposed to be using first or last names for solo artists, so I'll stick with bands only. A - The Arcade Fire B - Blanche C - The Clash D - Dinosaur Jr E - ESG F - Fugazi G - Guided by Voices H - Hum I - Interpol J - Joy Division K - The Knitters L - Les Savy Fav M - The Minutemen or Mission of Burma or Meat Puppets -- too fucking hard to choose N - NATSUMEN O - Oasis P - The Pixies Q - Queens of the Stone Age R - Radiohead S - Sonic Youth or the Stooges T - Thunderbirds Are Now! U - Uncle Tupelo V - The Velvet Underground W - The White Stripes X - X Y - Yo La Tengo Z -
  11. The three day passes were $35 last year. Line-up is okay so far. Will definately be going for Public Enemy and will think about the three day pass. It looks promising but not great thus far.
  12. I couldn't care less if he wants to bang some whores, but it does bother me when high officials are stupid enough to get caught up in something like this, not from a moral standpoint, but simply a practical one, as he should understand the problems that this can cause for his career, his state, his political party, and above all his ability to handle the people's business. Someone who is fighting federal criminal charges simply doesn't have the time to properly attend to the busy schedule of a governor. And I read that he paid for one of them to travel from New York to Washington, which me
  13. Experimental Jet Set is okay, but yeah, compared to the other things that they put out around that time, it's pretty unexciting. Definately not a good album to start with short of maybe the first two songs.
