  1. What is called "Al Qaeda in Iraq" is not really affiliated with the al Qaeda that attacked us -- they're a rogue group who calls themself that to gain credibility. Also, they account for less than 5% of the people fighting in Iraq.
  2. Not at all. Pretty sure he's a White Sox fan.
  3. I really wish that I could just write off massive crimes against humanity as just simple policy disagreements. I'd feel a whole lot better about the world.
  4. Some things are universal. Murder is wrong and anyone who disagrees with that is generally considered to be (in the very least) mentally ill if they disagree. Starting a war unprovoked is likewise universally considered to be wrong, unless of course it's your own country doing it.
  5. Even if they're batshit insane beliefs? Seriously, you have to draw a line somewhere. I don't disagree with this, although I think by going after my position rather than Lieberman's, you're looking to the wrong place. My viewpoint may not be universal, but there is still a difference between a viewpoint based in reality that can change with new information, and someone who just thinks they're right no matter what, even when the evidence proves otherwise (see everything Lieberman has said over the last 5 years about Iraq or Iran).
  6. There are people out there who think that a policy of flying planes into buildings is the correct way to deal with their foreign affairs. You disagree with them, yes, but apparently they aren't wrong. It's just a disagreement.
  7. You're right, the disagreement over whether or not it's okay to attack another country for no reason is completely equivilent to any other policy disagreement. Do you think that there are any positions on any issues that are just wrong or are all positions on all issues equally credible?
  8. Here's one really big lie. I'll dig up more if you want. Lieberman claims on Meet the Press that the people we're fighting in Iraq are the people who attacked us on 9/11 He's wrong on the issues because he believes in a doctrine of starting wars with country's that didn't attack us, he's pro-torture, and he seems as though he'd be content to be fighting in Iraq forever.
  9. I'm not really sure if you mean that I just disagree with him and he's not really lying, or if you mean that my problem with him is because of his lying and not his position on the issues, but either way you're wrong. He's wrong on the issues in ways that can have dire consequences, and he lies about them on top of it. He's morally reprehensible for both reasons.
  10. I'm gonna be there on Saturday. Hopefully Dontrelle's Tiger debut will be solid.
  11. Sure, but why would Obama care that Lieberman is saying that? There are few people less influential with Democratic voters than Joe Lieberman. I don't see why he should be afraid of Lieberman's words "getting out". He's endorsed McCain already. Anything he says is going to be seen in that context, and this isn't a particularly damaging charge anyway.
  12. Sometimes issues are important enough to get angry about. Some political disagreements are just wanky pissing contests. Others are the difference between people living and dying.
  13. He's a warmonger. He consistently lies about our middle east policy and perpetuates falsehoods to try to go to war with Iran. I have no problem with the guy changing parties. I don't want him as a Democrat, and he fits with the Republicans better anyway, on the important issues. I just wish he'd be honest about it rather than blaming the Democrats for being too partisan by not kowtowing to the Bush agenda enough (which is absurd on it's face considering how much they do let Bush get away with).
  14. If I ever got a message from Jeter, I would change my number.
  15. That makes sense. I misread his post.
  16. How did that stop him from becoming a Yankee? Since when has overpaying a player or five stopped the Yankees from overpaying another player? There was a stretch of about four years or so where Pedro may have been the best ever. He was unreal.
  17. You're still a teenager? Jeez, seems like you've been a teenager for like 20 years now.
  18. Interesting point considering so much of it was recorded at soundcheck, backstage, etc. Unfortunately they didn't learn that lesson and instead relied on studio production more heavily than ever in the albums that followed.
  19. They're actually fining all players, coaches and staff $1 every time they say "Devil Rays" instead of "Rays".
  20. They will sound exactly the same as they do now.
  21. New Adventures in Hi-Fi might be my favorite REM album. Definately the best post-80s.
  22. Just gave Accelerate a first spin. It is surpisingly not terrible. It isn't top tier REM, but perhaps the first 2nd tier REM release in quite a while.
