Oh well, he may not be playing after all and I've got the Arcade Fire show this weekend, anyway.

Listen - New Polyphonic Spree 'Fragile Army'
Elixir Sue replied to EL the Famous's topic in Someone Else's Song
Oh really? I'm not sold on the Polyphonic Spree either, but a friend of mine said he was completely converted after seeing them live. That seems to be the consensus, so who knows. I'll reserve judgment. -
"Ask the Lonely"? ...not that I listen to Journey's Greatest Hits very often, or anything...
-
It's Wilco's fault that the album sounds the way it does. Plenty of people seem to enjoy it; I'm just not one of them.

I agree with pretty much everything said in this review, although my feelings too can be described as indy stated: personal disappointment with the band's direction.

Happy birthday!!

I missed it.

Observe: http://xlrecordings.com/shop/artist/~thewh...pes/?browsing=w Yes, it's a website, and yes, it's based in the UK...but I've bought most of those 7" singles in record stores here.

Two record stores near me each have a pretty big vinyl selection, including 45s....and I live in Kentucky, so I'm guessing bigger cities have a decent selection. Places like Virgin Megastore and Tower Records sell vinyl, too.
-
Ah, cool. Yes, they do. 45s are still going strong.

What do you prefer?

I like this better than most of the album. This is the b-side to which song?
-
And let me know if Wendy doesn't want them. I'm still looking!!

I thought George Martin's son was the main producer on the Love project...I could be wrong on that, but I thought I read it somewhere. As for the 3rd Anthology track, Geoff Emerick said that they started working on it in '94 but never finished it. I'm guessing Jeff Lynne just stepped back in to help finish it off, since he participated in the earlier stages of the song. I'm happy it's going to see the light of day after all.

Looks like Todd Pletcher is the man. I'm going to put some money on Curlin, across the board. I'll probably bet on a couple more to win, just for the hell of it, but I'm not sure which ones yet...

Icky Thump - New White Stripes album
Elixir Sue replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
Thought so. Well, I'm not too bothered about it...I like "Icky Thump" (and the fade doesn't ruin it for me), but I'm thinking it won't end up being one of my favorites on the album. I have high hopes. -
Cool, thanks for the info!

I think I might go to that show. Have you been to the Snowden Grove Park Amphiteater? I'm hoping for some Tennessee/Kentucky action to follow that leg of the tour.

Icky Thump - New White Stripes album
Elixir Sue replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
I finally downloaded it...I'm thinking the fade-out's probably not "single only," considering there are several other White Stripes songs that end that way: The Air Near My Fingers, Hello Operator, Forever For Her...to name a few off the top of my head. -

Is it bad? I haven't downloaded it from iTunes yet... -
Icky Thump - New White Stripes album
Elixir Sue replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, a lot of people have been having that problem...it must be indexed in a weird way or something. Shame on Apple. -

I've already been checking flights. Too bad the Montreal - Iqaluit leg is about $2000.
