  1. Everyone knows Wilco's calendars aren't edgy anymore, anyway. If there were a 2010 calendar, it wouldn't be nearly as good as that calendar they put out in 2002. It would probably be regular white paper with tired black ink and black and white pictures. And they would have to use large type so all the dad rockers could read it.
  2. Love this, but it's not exactly motivating me to get out of bed and do stuff.
  3. I'm thankful: that my nephew is healthy after having cancer a few years ago. that I have a job (was unemployed for four months earlier this year). that my 10-year-old car is holding up for the 75-mile round-trip commute. for all of the wonderful music that gets me through the rough days and makes the good ones better.
  4. I prefer I and Love and You to Emotionalism. (Granted, I have been listening to I&L&Y a ridiculous number of times since it was released and have heard Emotionalism just a couple of times.)
  5. The first time I saw them was New Year's Eve 2004 at the Bowery Ballroom. I had heard only one DBT song but was in the city to see Wilco, so I thought what the hell. And thus began my obsession. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen. (Side note: This is the show that prompted me to start wearing earplugs. )
  6. Kenny wasn't like the other kids...
  7. It's great listening to Via Chicago in a room that is dark other than the glow of my computer screen and just a little bit of light seeping through the blinds.
  8. It's good to have some good A's news.
  9. I imagine it might be cool if you were actually there, but listening at home, not so much.
  10. Dammit. I had my live Wilco addiction firmly under control until I started listening to this. Now I need to go to a show right now.
  11. I think Hail to the Thief -- not Kid A -- is Radiohead's best post-OK Computer album.
  12. Not really out and about, but I heard Can't Stand It on an episode of Charmed today. I've seen every episode of that show eleventy billion times; I don't know how I didn't notice that before.
  13. I listen to Exile every so often, but I just can't get into it. I like other Stones stuff, but it's just not happening with this album.
  14. But in this case, it's a good weird.
  15. Hell, I don't start work until 4 in the afternoon and I still like to know set times. I normally like to get to shows before or around the time doors open. But sometimes I have other things to do or just don't feel like hanging out at the venue or know the opening act is terrible, etc., so it makes my life a whole lot easier to have a firm time.
  16. Devendra Banhart -- What Will We Be Stopped listening about halfway through (but will finish later). I loved his previous three, and this is a big disappointment.
