  1. My sentiments exactly. While I haven't cared much at all for what they've put out over the past 8 years or so, I fell head over heels in love with them in the early '90's, owned all the albums & piles of bootlegs, and saw them live several times. So there is a loyalty factor there...
  2. Is that for real? Now who'd wanna punch Toby in the throat? He's such a nice guy...
  3. I know that you and I have some fundamental disagreements regarding OR... OK, Sheff's voice to be precise, but I loved The Stage Names to be sure, it was one of my tops of last year. And tonight I can't stop listenening to The Stand-Ins... which incidentally is just about where I was at a year or so ago with The Stage Names... Working on it... check for PM soon.
  4. So, yeah... The Stand-Ins is pretty fucking good. Can't say I'm surprised.
  5. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to the Okkervil leak. Now, I admit to being a total fangirl, but good god I am in love with this band. I'd be hard-pressed to find any other artist that can consistently put out tasty tasty tunes like the OR. I'm on track #4 on my first listen, and it's amazing. So far I'd say that as clever lyrics go, Singer Songwriter is on par with Plus Ones... which is to say, brilliant.
  6. The boys are gonna be on Conan this Thursday.
  7. City And Colour - Bring Me Your Love
  8. I didn't much care for this album when I first listened to it, but I put it aside to listen to again later. Kinda digging it tonight...
  9. I'll have to check that one out. I like Laura Marling. NP:
  10. Stupid Americans... That is great news, though. I miss my Bluths!!!
  11. Just seconds before July kicks in: How low How low must I sink For you to want it again Like the night with the drink Tequila and red wine, beer and vodka that tasted like gin But slipped down like tears I was not on my knees by accident Can you hear my rumbling guts I see sickness again Coming in floods Of tequila and red wine, beer and vodka that tasted like gin But slipped down like tears I was not at your feet by accident
  12. Just tune in to the NP thread every Sunday, Froggie will show you that love... One of my earliest (and best) memories is my mom listening to Sundown (probably his biggest hit record in the states?). Now that I'm all growed up I'm pretty sure it was the only record I ever heard her play... she's more the talk radio type. NP:
  13. goddamn, but i am in love with this band.
  14. Never did (get into them that is). I've been on this board for a loooong time, and many here have always sung their praises. I tried and tried over the years - to no avail - to get into their studio (and live) albums... January 2007 they played a couple dates in Denver and I thought for sure I'd finally discover what the fuss was all about, and... I left the show early out of sheer boredom. I'm still wondering what's wrong with me...
  15. I usually get my vinyl at insound.com. Sign up for their mailing list and they send out all kinds of coupons, especially for pre-orders.
  16. Not a bad album at all. They've been compared to early Modest Mouse and Transatlanticism-era DCFC. Featured on Daytrotter yesterday...
