  1. Yeah...I'm neither from nor have even been to Minnesota. But Harmon Killebrew was on my radar. Oh well.
  2. I don't know. These folks bet everything that they were special and would be leaving the trials and tribulations behind. For them, waking up this morning was probably a more bitter pill than we could ever imagine.
  3. Must be a generational thing. Not that it is a competition by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a little surprising to me that this thread has more responses than the Harmon Killebrew thread. I guess our respective childhoods had different arcs. I didn't watcht the WWF very much, but I do remember some of the schtick.
  4. Although the situation has its humorous side, I wonder how those people who were sure they weren't going to be here on May 22 are reconciling their life choices. The people who abondoned their jobs, spent their life savings, abondoned their family and friends...where do they go from here?
  5. We'll have people all over the streaming tracks. There'll be complaints about too much compression, crappy mixes and banal songs. It now comes with the territory around here.
  6. this is some really funny shit. And it is a real link to the CDC. http://emergency.cdc.gov/cdc/orgs_progs.asp
  7. "Northerner" was used as a contrast to "rural". There are quite a few metropolitan, sophisticated areas that lie outside the North (Chicago), West and East Coasts. Also, I have no idea where squashedfrog is from. However, given his citation of Brooklyn and Boston among his troika of cited cities, an assumption was made. But...way to miss my point there.
  8. Harmon was one of the legendary greats of bygone era that is surely missed... Brooks Robinson Boog Powell Frank Howard Frank Robinson Roberto Clemente Al Kaline Norm Cash Willie Mays Willie McCovey The names of my early youth...
  9. Well, actually it's about 400,000. But it is interesting how "Northerners" view things West of the Mississippi and South of the Mason Dixon line.

  11. A+ for referencing my favorite movie LC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkJqKOb0ZhY
  12. It may be. It may not be. But it will be something new and something to experience with anticipation.
  13. I'd love to see Machu Picchu, but I'm never going above 6000 feet ever again.
  14. You'll forgive me if I don't fully engage in any handwringing until I hear it. I trust your judgement and all, but I have to HEAR it.
  15. I have a feeling you just made somebody's WEEK.
  16. If this is a double record/cd as has been rumored, it will take a month or so before I can fully absorb it.
  17. I'd like to go back to Lake Maligne in Alberta I'd like to go back to the Muir woods I'd like to see the Highlands of Scotland I'd like to stand in the shadow of the Great Pyramid of Giza
