Kings or Hemispheres would be pretty awesome. those are my two favorite albums from them. Xanadu is probably my favorite song of theirs. btw, there is a scifi novel coming out with the new album.

i'm with you on this. i'd rather they play phillips. lot less of a hassel to get to in some ways. i was on a major rush kick after their last tour, but i might run out of steam by the time november comes around. hadn't hear the signals rumor. that would be interesting and a change of pace from their recent hard rock stuff. i also heard rumors of entire 2112 album. who knows.

i love it! the bass sounds so awesome and neil is just sludging away. the choir is not bad at all. just sounds like multitracked crazy horse harmony. looking forward to it. -
albums don't get much more perfect than big pink and the band. those 90s albums were fun too, loved seeing levon in movies. i could listen to the dude read the phonebook. he talked like he drummed. he just had that thing. RIP brother. may richard and rick meet you with open arms in the big sky.

west coast vince-era shows sound a bit better to my ears than the majority of the rest. seem more mellow. as for let it grow, i really don't care for the studio version or the earlier versions. i think it really came to the fore when garcia got the midi trumpet on it. the one on without a net is superb! that song could sure be a train wreck in the latter days :-)

i really don't see anything new here. SACD, DVD-A, HDDVD etc. have essentially failed. Blue ray hasn't caught on. so is neil just proposing lossless streaming? i don't see this happing for a long long time...if at all. interesting though. i'd like to see lossless download albums for $5 before any of this stuff. what's funny is neil says he wants an ipod for the 21st century. the ipod is the ipod of the 21st century

didn't Lester Bangs in Almost Famous say that 1974 was the death rattle of rock -
the movie was so tame. the premise is utterly unthinkable which the movie never really addresses.

the thing about the 70s is the production. it was warm, phat and easy to listen too. even the hardest rock. the 80s reverbed the shit out of music and the 90s compressed it to shit. i just found the 90s sound to be so harsh on my ears. luckily, of the last decade, bands have rediscovered that warmness in using newer technology. the best examples are wilco (AGIB), neil young, petty, jim orourke. still, some guys just can't get away from it. 'loops on a springsteen record'. i was really really judgmental about music in my 20s. my palate has opened up a bit and i can really enjoy mus -

it's just sad that we have to go through this process to get some kind of care for the uninsured. i often wonder what it would be like if food, shelter, medical care were the priority and not profit. -

this thread is going pretty much how i thought. i kind of cheat and say the '70s' are basically 67-83. the 80s sound didn't really kick in full throttle til 84 and lasted until 1992. thank goodness for grunge and the alt. rock of the 90s. still, they pale in comparison to the 70s. i have been listening to some of the 80s output from some of my favorite 70s bands (petty, dylan, springsteen). not to bad and kind of nostalgic. i also have fantasized about going back in time to the golden era. first and foremost, i would follow the dead, but would catch every zep, who, pink floyd, yes, -

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band

that video is awesome! i love bruce's marching theres some pro shot stuff from G-boro show that popped up too. wonder if he's filming the entire tour or something. i notice he's doing 2 shows then taking several days off. probably not practical for roadies and gear, but great for him. he's taking care of himself. he probably flies in for the soundcheck and flies out after the show. btw, been listening to the new one and the rising. the rising truley is an E street record. it's the band playing on it. Wrecking Ball is definitely more of a solo album. little steven isn't even on -

it's rumored that neil held off on the archives in hopes of a grand digital technology. along comes blue-ray and neil seems to think it's the future of musical delivery. alas, the archives vol. 1 comes out. lot's of boomer rusties buy blue ray machines to have all the content of the archives and the promised monthly downloads of additional stuff. well, blue ray has not really become the defacto format. plain old dvd and cd remains after SACD, HDDVD, Blue Ray, DVD-A, DTS etc. also, the extra downloads stopped a few months after the release. this is only half of the critique of the archiv -

i really like the cover art. i assume they'll be a tour. if anything, this album will be fun. my son was running around singing 'she'll be comin' round the mountain' today. can't wait til we can jam to the 'horse' version. -

saw the opening night in atlanta last night. of course, great show. i really enjoyed hearing the new tunes live. the band has a nice full sound with the horns, back up singers and percussionist. i really wasn't expecting this, but, Clarence was very much missed both in presence and playing. i'm sure they'll be busting out a bunch of songs as the tour moves along. i assume he'll do two legs. the show i saw on the first magic tour was something else in the variety of songs. the show got me thinking about the DD acoustic tour. i wish they'd put out a dvd of that. he doesn't do enough of -

his album, Population Me is great. -
hilarious about your husband. i know some guys like that here. every concert (and they see a lot) is the most badasss thing they've ever seen. i wish i could get that concert buzz more. it's totally wained in the last 10 years. my second Brothers show was one of those. '93 with woody. awesome!

i'm just curious, where else has jay done this. i'm drawing a blank :-) btw, that link above has a nice vid of jay doing cocaine and ashes on acoustic. sounds really good. the close-up of his face shows that he's really into it. good stuff. -
nice video. i love those dudes to death. i remember when i discovered CSN and then some older high school kid said, 'what about CSNY'. Bamm! it was over. each one has some good solo stuff too....of course, neil is no. 1. there's been news in the last few years of a Tour '74 set to come out. hopefully we'll see it. btw, i've been listening to nash's wild tales album. very neil-esqe.
