  1. seconded. i also like hang fire. that said, i'm more on the beatles side of things.
  2. this is so cool. thanks. i'm with y'all. AGIB is my favorite Wilco album. part of that is the production. so, so warm and comforting while validating the human condition. jim o'rouke's touch is part of this as is the zeitgeist of the time. i think i remember jeff saying that he thought this was their best sounding album as it captures the warm analog sound of 70s albums. unfortunately, with W(TA) and TWL the band has gotten in to some processing and hot mastering that is making those albums less easy to listen to for me. for example, Wilco the song sounds totally brick-walled to me.
  3. yeah. i've read it numerous times. i can't wait to read this memoir. i swear, if i could've majored in grateful dead and minor in neil young in college/grad.school i would be the most published professor ever!
  4. neilyoung.org great clearing house of recent headlines as well as links to all relevant websites. i bet his memoir gets bumped by this. i really want to read that book, but i also and curious about this new album!
  5. i like doug paisley too. not sure if its a headphones album. pretty much anything by pink floyd or alan parsons project.
  6. bobby weir-noond plays like him. so angular and all those inverted chords. it's a wonder how the grateful dead ever played with out falling apart. none ever played the root note. amazing. poncho sampedro-the dude is the perfect foil for neil young. he mainly plays chords, but just loves every strum. he also does somer really cool little licks once in a while.
  7. this last sentence--pot kettle black. no one's innocent.
  8. they forgot my morning jacket, radiohead, band of horses and the national i like Sleigh Bells.
  9. i want to hear that tune vibration and light suite. i'm surprised to see chris re-record appaloosa. good song. the first album was okay, but i got bored with it pretty quick. loved the cover art. i think it's a little cheap to put out a 7 song album...they're probably all 10 min of guitar jams.
  10. neil young, freedom, ragged glory, harvest moon
  11. yeah, lots of folks were doing that on multiple night runs.
  12. i enjoyed the shows from 92-95, but purposefully didn't go to many. i also left early a few times. post space was just killing time. now, i cannot listen to any show from that era. i just don't care for vince.
  13. yeah, i can see eddie vedder hanging on. btw, i keep thinking of that scene in Singles when Matt Dillon's character is lamenting..."where is the iron man of today!"
  14. Dylan=Tweedy Young=Jay Farrar (Ryan Adams?)(Gillian Welch?) Springsteen=Patterson Hood (Craig Finn?) those are the only singer/songwriters that i can remotely get on board with these days. i think the reason these old dudes are still interesting is because of their legacy. they were the first ones and had a huge empty canvas to paint on. that canvas is pretty much full now. however, there's still new stuff coming out that sounds new, but there's so much of it. it's rare to have an artist that has a voice that tugs at your heart, poetry that does the same and memorable songs.
  15. this is really really good. i love the little breakdown.
  16. New album seems like it's gonna be a jam/feedback fest. Looking forward to it. I really liked Americana. Hope they play the south at some point. If neil keeps it up like he's been doing, we've got at least 10 more albums coming!
  17. i was waiting for NPR to do this. sounds good.
  18. jay did cars can't escape on his solo album bigger than blue. it's called 'reasons for you to love me'
  19. that was a great show. did anyone see the giant turtle on the table during the interview? i hope he didn't fall off:)
  20. yeah, i've tried to pinpoint when garcia's voice went. def 83-86. then he just kind of maintained. i remember that when i was initially into the dead, i hadn't heard any recent stuff (late 80s) and when i did, i thought garcia's voice sucked. i got used to it though. it seemed to work on the acoustic stuff he did with grisman and somehow it sounded good on in the dark.
  21. you know, you are so right. i'm on drugs. i don't know what i was thinking. i love that second night. tight first set and probably then best stella blue ever:) i don't remember the first night being too good. i was tired i think.
