  1. let me be the first to say, 'whatever'. touching though. kind of reminds me of the big 'whatever' at the end of BSG. fun night though.
  2. don't know exact answers. Tears for Fears, YYZ, Rock And Roll. as one comment said, these aren't exactly drum fills but drum intros for the most part.
  3. for some reason i get really frustrated that music is so easy to get or hear for free these days. torrents, downloads, pandora, etc. it's overwhelming.
  4. couldn't agree more. if the album had opened with deeper down and wilco song being a bonus track, the album would have been completely different. its a classic tweedy song both lyrically and musically.
  5. i like 'Jack's' jean jacket and necklace the cast members look older. guess we're older too. anyway, i really liked the scene a few weeks ago after they got out of the sinking sub and everyone just cried their eyes out. what a release.
  6. there are some crazy answers over on the comments section.
  7. i got 5 too. couldn't figure out what rush song that was...YYZ?
  8. bert jansch opened up. i guess there was quite a bit of dicking around and sound issues too. i'm a bit disappointed by this set up. i was really hoping for his classic solo show setup with him sitting in the middle of a semi-circle of acoustics and just knocking out the songs. at least 25 songs. he's standing up and doing a bunch of stuff electric. and both versions of hey hey my my(?)
  9. http://www.rustradio.org/radio.php first show streaming at link above. this new album with lanois will probably not be acoustic. very swamping with lots of reverb and flange. that's my take on these songs.
  10. i guess he played several songs on electric guitar too. pretty cool. i bet hitchhiker is on the new album.
  11. i can't search this site for shit. sorry to start a new thread, but i wanted to post neil's setlist from last night in ny. looks good. maybe put links to the other neil young threads like the grateful dead one? 2010-05-18, Palace Theatre, Albany, New York, USA Solo 1. My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue) 2. Tell Me Why 3. Helpless 4. You Never Call 5. Peaceful Valley 6. Love And War 7. Down By The River 8. Hitchhiker 9. Ohio 10. Sign Of Love 11. Leia 12. 12. that is a great setlist! so lucky you heard lazy lightning. fyi, los lobos is covering west LA on their new album coming out in august.
  13. that's a hell of an encore! cool he got the dudes kicked out. patterson is def a rocker, but also an adult. a great guy too. met him a few times. very gracious.
  14. some good points. i've had a hard time getting into smile and sound of lies. i just think that on his own, gary goes pop all the way. it's funny how it took two producers for rainy day music to be good:) as far as olson and louris together, i think their rock days are behind them. i do miss gary's electric guitar though. nice mix of clarence white and neil young i think that if the jayhawks are one of your top 10 favorite bands, and you really give it attention, ready for the flood is great album.
  15. yeah, mark's voice is an acquired taste to some extent. his solo stuff is quite good. creekdipper stuff has some great songs and mark's voice is in check. i like the first one.
  16. i think it's a great album...either way, side with seeds are my favorite. but, either way is such a great warm opener. very much in line with what jeff says in the dvd about just wanting to hear nice songs. 'maybe the sun will shine today." that and patient with me are just classic tweedy songs. i'd love to hear tweedy do a solo album of songs like this.
  17. been watching some videos of that song. great stuff. may need to delve into sabbath beyond the hits.
  18. does he need his own thread? Dio RIP anyway, never a huge fan. however, growing up in the late 70's and 80's i swear i heard a radio commercial for dio coming to town every 6 months. didn't know he was that old. rock on!!
  19. thanks. i am really digging the olson louris record lately. never gave it much time when it came out. gonna check out vagabonds despite these reviews
  20. interesting stuff Aman. not sure about cassette tapes. the more i think about cd vs. downloads the more i realize that cds are going nowhere. stuff will probably go out of print quicker, but new stuff will always come out on cd for decades to come. at least until boomers and gen x folk get really really old.
  21. i've been watching this season. as with BSG, the show is not as involved or deep as we might want it to be. it's disappointng when writers depend on magic and supernatural (like BSG) to tie up loose ends. revealing the dharma initiative in the final season would have been a much more satisfying conclusion rather than showing who becomes the ordained keeper of the magic island. the characters are quite one dimensional. it seems like all they do is walk through the jungle or stand around in the jungle. anyway, the main point of the story as with most is that humans are idiots and capable o
  22. probably my favorite director. don't by many dvds, but i do buy his. darjeeling is my most favorite. i sympathized/empathized with the characters immediately. with the other films, i had to watch more than once in order to feel for the characters. after that, i'm sucked in. loved mr. fox. pure wes anderson. i really liked his brother doing kristoph:) Darjeeling Royal T. Life Aquatic Rushmore Fox Bottle Rocket
