  1. Is Nels playing keys on You Noticed? love that rhodes, or whatever. just diving into this. jff, we may be the only folks in atlanta or even georgia who listen to nels
  2. the documentary of making Josephine. it's very cool. i'd love to see wilco do one of these. molina really has some easy going dudes playing with him. they all just roll with his vibe. cool to see steve albini too.
  3. i agree. Shakey is awesome. i really would love to see an updated version of that. at the same time, i would've loved to see more of neil's creative process in that book. and other rock books for that matter. i'm so curious and fascinated by the time between when a song doesn't exist...then it does. what happens there?
  4. his last two albums are pretty good, but his other solo stuff is really tough to take. i always wonder how deluded artists and produced must get in the studio when they sit and listen to playback of such terrible production and think..'this sounds great!' amazing phenom.
  5. I think this every day and I think Jay Farrar said it in a song, 'It doesn't have to be this way'. no doubt t his is only one example of thousands of situations like this that occur in any war we're currently fighting. i really can't believe humanity continues. that i have child, this world, at times, seems worse that a nightmare. at least with a bad dream, you wake up. THIS is our reality. horrifying.
  6. well, i take some of this back. i heard a review of the album on fresh air and was inspired to get it. it is produced very well. a standard i would like to see more bands aspire to. very warm and immediate. at the same time, newsom's melodies are timeless without sounding cliche. she just nails it every time adding some little minor chord etc. also, the arrangements are so compelling. one verse has just harp, then the next has strings (warm and immediate, not cheese) and then a little horn solo. just great. she's toned down some of the voice stuff, but i've come to realize that's her
  7. her albums are interesting musically and produced well. however, she is just so peculiar. i can't stop listening because it's so weird not because it's good. unfortunately, i think she ruins her music which seems to be the thing to do in the indie era. this trend seems to be continuing for the next decade given the stuff i heard out of swsw.
  8. i know, but i think it came from sbs sessions. still would like to see a collection of b-sides, comp songs, etc.
  9. i would bet Glad It's Over was recorded then too. It really is time for a non-album rarities collection with all these songs equalized and in chronological order.
  10. good point. i'm just sad about that. used to love going there and listening to music samples.
  11. this is about 20 years too late. it just amazes me how dumb business people are sometimes. why struggle to maintain a dead product? it's over. borders and b&n have no CDs any more. those who want CDs will buy them no matter what. AND downloads should be $5 per album. that would cut down on pirating.
  12. Small class sizes. Obama a socialist? more of a nice kinda liberal Repblican. the county i live in is a clusterfuck of an education system as a result of nepotism and racism that no one wants to talk about. as for it being a mistake to listen to NPR, no joke. great way to increase anxiety on the way to and from work in already stressful traffic.
  13. is this on the wilco book or the yhf demos? i know, i'm dumb:)
  14. yes, and now we're all buddies! incidently, i would love to hear a studio version of Let's Fight. That and My Words. i remember reading a quote from tweedy that the band had so many songs when they were putting together SBS. we really need a rarities set.
  15. yeah, my response was kind of jerky too. sorry. now, what is that magic post number?
  16. i can't help but notice that the majority of your posts are patronizing.
  17. i like shonna's songs on this new record. very mellow and a good foil for cooley and hood. i wonder if the new keyboard dude will have some songs on the next record. i know he writes and sings. would be interesting.
  18. i agree. i've tried to swear off VC many times as a result.
  19. i think invisible touch is a tight pop record. we can't dance is pretty bad, but fading lights is such a great song.
  20. i love Watcher of the Skies. Check out youtube for live versions with gabriel and his cape. great stuff. i always wondered why they didn't to horizons into supper's ready live. seemed like a nice intro. selling is a great next step. lamb has got it's moments too. i also love duke.
  21. i kind of like the new song. it's interesting for him to not put out a catchy single as he's done the last few times (scare easy, square one, last DJ).
  22. true. solo or with a group, all she has to do is open her mouth. so great.
  23. i;ve got to check these guys out. btw-does anyone listen to Used Bin Radio or anything on Pure Rock Radio.net? it's all metal. they have podcasts too. Used Bin is good because they do prog too.
  24. http://www.glidemagazine.com/free-music-downloads/1351/new-pornographers-hands-together-mp3.html i really like neko's voice in this context.
