  1. i've been an off and on fan for a while. i've recently been discovering some of their latter day output. Talk is not a bad ablum at all. i think rabin was a good foil for anderson. i would love to see the new tour. i love chris squire and steve howe. plus, they are playing some real random stuff they haven't played in decades. Machine Messiah being one highlight! i've seen some video footage and Oliver is not his father, but seems to fill the space. also, benoit is competent. kind of weird though with out their spiritual leader. i would really love to see the classic line-up get toge
  2. i would say that LOW, ER, and OW are horrible albums. i love them though. Trans is actually a great album. I cannot wait to hear what would have been Island in The Sun that Geffen rejected before ironically accepting Trans. This Note's For You is another terrible album, with a few really good songs. Coupe De Ville being one. Grand Prix is one of the top ten albums of the 90s. i can't seem to get into the other albums. Hang On is great thought. Just way too long.
  3. i actually like landing on water. it is horrible, but i like it. i wish he would rework those songs solo acoustic. especially, Drifter.
  4. Trick of the Tail so so so good. interesting you don't like it. concerning neil young, he's the only artist that i like every damn thing the guy puts out. EVERYTHING. that's not to say i prefer some more than others. objectively, he's got some real cringe worthy music. i love it though!
  5. good point about waits. not a huge fan, but he sure has maintained creative integrity.
  6. the stars seem to be aligning for either an acoustic album or crazy horse. or maybe not. i can see neil doing some symphony album next. would love to get a crazy horse tour or a solo acoustic tour.
  7. i'm currently trying to do this with genesis and rush. it was rough at first, but he actual bands reveal themselves after several listens and the production really doesn't matter. still, i'm a bit embarrassed to reveal which discs i'm working on although, one could probably guess.
  8. surprised they're playing variety in atlanta. two nights is cool though and it's the best venue in atlanta.
  9. http://blog.allmusic.com/2010/1/25/news-roundup-1252010/ concert for haiti. how great is this? so cool. i really need to try and get into these dudes. i've tried several times to no avail. however, i really really respect them and the way they work. a very intentional band from it's songwriting to its compassion. a popular band actually adding something meaningful to this world that is just pumped full of shit 24/7.
  10. what ever happened to her? she's in one of the better movies of the late 90s and then just was in complete shit. fyi, what is farrell's wife's name? she is cute.
  11. as with any of these issues it needs to be considered in the systemic context. we have corps that are treated like individuals. however, corps have a whole lot more power than one individual. so, they will sway both in lobbying and now through political campaigns. BUT, that's the system we have. we can't expect corps to be 'nice'. it's like telling a dog to be a cat. they can't in capitalist society based on competition. corps will do ANYTHING to make more money. it's insidious. there's a nasty corporate underbelly in every corner of this society. i mean every corner. now, if we al
  12. Wilco (the Album) Hey, we're Wilco, a sonic shoulder for you to cry on. But, damn, I'm tired Deeper Down. One Wing is not enough for this relationship. I'm tired y'all, even my Black Nova is giving me nose bleeds. Asleep, I dream about Fiest, what a nightmare. I awake to George Harrison. "Come on children", I say to myself (referring to myself). My Country has Disappeared, my idealism, my actual country etc. Or maybe that's just the myth of the good old days? Hey, let's play Solitare. What, what's the most cliche lyric I can come up with..."I'll Fight for you? Well, even Sunny F
  13. late 80s early 90s was great because the 2nd tier bands from the 70s played bars. just down the street we saw kansas, ARS, foghat, etc. i think there's something to be said about a band having a 'spiritual' leader. i was thinking about this concerning the dead. jerry was obviously the leader there and the boys just can't find their way without him. same with aerosmith maber. now, the part of that article that got me interested was perry to 'pen for bad co.' what's that about?
  14. well, i've heard this from the horse's mouth.
  15. Benji Shanks is the dude's name. a talent second only to warren haynes in this genre. evidently this is not part of the official history of the band. luther must've been picked up b/c of his legacy and what cred he had.
  16. i always tend to get stuff on a whim at emusic only to not really like it and delete it. also, i think the quality of their mp3s is less than stellar, despite what they say. it's good if you want to be a completist on some things though.
  17. recently been talking with a drummer buddy of mine who is friends with the guitar player they brought in after the hiatus. he is the shit and evidently was ousted when the producer of warpaint said he wanted the gig. evidently that didn't work out as now they have the one trick pony of luther. mmm?
  18. interesting. toast will be part of the 'unreleased album series' not the performance series. Rusted out garage will def be in there as will a 76 crazy horse show. but i'm sure there's more. despite my writing this, i could give a shit at this point. i really want to hear unreleased tracks from the 70s.

  20. late, but here's a few thoughts i've had about the album. Wilco (The Song) Great, fun song but it is way too loud and compressed. it seems like it was mixed totally different than, country disappeared, for example. worst 'sounding' wilco song on record. too bad. Deeper Down classic latter day tweedy track. nothing spectacular. in the vein of wishful thinking etc. a little bit warming sounding than WTS, but still a grating. One Wing best song on the album. wish it was produced a bit better with more space between the instruments. awesome chorus, words, and guitar solo. Bull Black
  21. i'm doing the same thing, but i'm buying one album a month. i'm also trying to focus on one cd every two weeks. currently, it's WilcoTA. next it will be american central dust. just need to digest albums i really care about before i buy stuff i have ancillary interest in.
