  1. No you didn't. You know what they say -- hindsight is 50-50!
  2. Rory! Now you're talking. Actually, my best mate is a bit mental when it comes to Rory. Tour posters and old issues of Hot Press kept lovingly in plastic. Old ticket stubs and all that paraphenalia. His missus tried to shift them to the attic one day and there was a very large standoff.
  3. No, no problem. Sure as fuck ain't funny though.
  4. I blame Stock Aitken and Waterman myself.
  5. I completely agree. Where are bands as vibrant and essential as The Jam, The Smiths, Joy Division....nothing is happening in the UK except for shitty guitar rock that makes even Cast look like Pink Floyd. Best album I have heard this year has been Boys And Girls In America. That was released here in January.
  6. That is an outstanding song. No doubt about that. I was very good friends with a guy who used to live in Thomas Clarke tower, on of the seven mentioned. Scary place at night time I tell you but the people who lived there were, for the most part, salt of the earth types. Sorry for bogarting your thread A- Man. Like I said, there are loads of bands I listen to that people might not like either. It's all cool and the gang. Except for Kool and the Gang, now they sucked in the 80's.
  7. I know it means squat but I am still mucho sad.
  8. Yeah, they are a pretty big draw here on the live circuit. Their albums always do well here too. Good to see that Glen is getting some airtime with The Swell Season too. I think they are a mite too long in the tooth for the world domination thing now sadly.
  9. Oh, right. Colour me unhelpful and uninformed!
  10. Irish people are very pleasant and helpful. Just not me. What are miracle drug etc?
  11. The Dockers was it? Great place to drink for years till it was over run with fucking plebs looking for U2. Not you like....
  12. That is one dodgy area of the docklands. I don't know how more people are not mugged down there. I got jumped down there one night myself and got the crap beaten out of myself and another guy. Bastards.
  13. In the morning I am a recluse, lost in memories Ideal situations and convulsions I'm never in and I can't remember They built portholes for Bono, so he could gaze Out across the bay and sing about mountains Maybe. You are what you own in this land You can be King and it all depends on the view and what you can see And around here nobody tells me what to do anymore
  14. Ah well, I like plenty of bands that others don't so...peace and goodwill to all men and all that guff. That is a big bugbear for me. August and Everything After is being re-issued again too. I mean, jeebus, how many times do they want us to spring for the same fucking record?
  15. I honestly don't like U2 which is difficult for some over here to understand. I find them over blown and not all that special to be honest. I like maybe a handful of their songs and that would be it. Fair play to them for putting Irish bands out there but they were never my thing.
  16. My mother always said if you can't say anything good, then say nothing at all. So...
  17. Waiting patiently for the Louris record. Tom Petty...everything sounds the same all the time.
  18. That Bryan Adams isn't good looking? I don't know...stop pressuring me!!
  19. Had to google it, thanks for nothing VC! Seems the Irish are regarded in this subset. Just as well I don't like fish.
  20. Brian McBride is as hard as nails though. And , less sexily, looks like Bryan Adams.
  21. Never mind all that guff. What the hell is a mackerel snapper? It sounds dirty. Bear in mind that for some reason I have lesbians on the mind so that may have something to do with the connotations.
  22. That's nothing new. We used to meet him somewhere in a bar in Galway every time our ship docked. Him, Billy Bragg and Mike Scott. Pissheads the lot of them!
