  1. His supporters certainly did him no favors, and their tactics did grave damage to Clinton, and as a result, the entire country.
  2. My feeling is along these lines, but with the slight but significant modification to this: She seems much more capable of compromise and rational argument, whereas Bernie (and his base) is (are) willing to go down in flames (and take all of us with them) for his (their) cause if it's not adopted 100%.
  3. I'd like to see that, and I think you're right about how it'd go. I feel strongly that this country is nowhere near electing a gay person, though. What I really want to see is him debate Pence and tear apart Pence's fake christianity. I think having a gay VP would move this country farther forward, and faster, than having a gay presidential candidate who ends up losing.
  4. Now that the latest round of debates are over, I'm calling Warren as the decisive winner, and I think she demonstrated that she would be the most effective opponent against Trump. Biden was repeatedly on the ropes after some softball challenges. Trump is going to eat him alive. Harris's delivery is too monotone to inspire the enthusiasm it's going to take to rally voters. You can barely hear what she's saying much of the time, and that definitely won't play well in debates against Trump. Delivery matters. Her delivery is well suited for committee hearings, but doesn't work on the debat
  5. He did a stellar job as part of the all-star Suite: Judy Blue Eyes performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb9sa2fOcPA
  6. I'd like to see Jeff backed up by Brian Blade on drums, or maybe Jim Keltner, and Bill Frisell on guitar. Or maybe Angus Young.
  7. This is the norm in journalism. Books have been written on this topic. I recommend this one: https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/inventing-reality-the-politics-of-news-media_michael-parenti/312170/#isbn=0312020139&idiq=2252601
  8. In case you haven't seen it, the issue is out and in addition to the interview with Jeff, it has interviews with Spencer Tweedy and Tom Schick. https://tapeop.com/
  9. I'm sure they weren't expecting him to say "The Russians interfered in the election for the benefit of Trump...but also for Clinton's benefit." With that statement, Trump probably won reelection.
  10. I watched large portions of it. Mueller was not impressive. If the needle has moved, my feeling is that it's in Trump's favor. I'd love to be wrong about that. In this strange world, Micheal Cohen is probably going to be remembered as a bigger hero than Mueller.
  11. Haha, yeah, that happened.
  12. Jeff has stated many times that his solo performances are, in part, a way to prove that the experimental stuff is really just regular songs that one guy with a guitar can perform. So I think this may have always been his process. It's just that in the last ten years or so he rarely incorporates the other part of the process that involves studio manipulation, post-production, experimentation, and which resulted in arguably their best work.
  13. Aw man, I forgot to come here on Saturday and say I was going to see Iron Maiden. I'm really not into metal very much, and I don't know much of their music, but that was a raging show. I love how all the demonic stuff was a bit tongue in cheek. Metal fans are no joke. A weird combination of super nerds and scary hoodlums.
  14. No need to apologize for anything. I think the bold portion is not really a fair representation of what the various members of Wilco can bring to the table, if given the opportunity. Noise is only one of the many things Nels has done throughout his long career (just in the last, say, five years, he's done orchestral music, guitar duets, power trio rock, fusion, jam band, big band jazz, jazz quartet, free improvisation, and yes, noise). I don't really know what the Autumn Defense does. But let's take Glenn. His solo work is composed percussion, in which layers of rhythm are used in conju
  15. Since I'm the one who stirred up this pot, I don't care what tempo the songs are, or how hard they rock, but I want to hear Tweedy dig deeper into the extremely deep well of the band's potential than he did for Schmilco, and for most of the songs the current lineup has made.
  16. That's how I interpeted U2roolz's comment, and what I meant. I think there's very little chance the record won't be streamable before the official release date.
  17. I have no idea why they do what they do but isn't pre-releasing records sort of the norm with them going back to YHF? They definitely put the record out before the release date for YHF, AGIB, SBS, and Star Wars. And maybe others.
  18. Wait, what? The Porsche refers to the current lineup, which has been appearing on Wilco studio records since Sky Blue Sky.
  19. Religious people, especially VERY religious people, might say they absolutely loathe Trump, but as long as he's putting anti-abortion judges on the bench, they will vote for him over any Democrat. For this reason, his low "approval" numbers or level of "support" is totally meaningless and in no way is an indication of his reelection prospects.
  20. I'm hoping for some real curveballs on this one. The band was totally underutilized on Schmilco, and I hope that isn't the case with this one. I've read a number of interviews with the band members in which they talk about the various and wide ranging side projects, and how Jeff encourages it because it makes a richer tapestry when the group gets together. The implication being that elements of each side project will work their way into what Wilco does, and as a result, Wilco's sonic universe will expand. But I haven't seen much evidence of that. On the contrary, it sometimes feels like t
  21. I did last night. According to Sean Hannity, anyone calling Trump a racist (or criticizing him in any way) hates America and can leave any time.
  22. Before Obama became the nominee 10 years ago (or was it 100?....it feels like 100), I thought Biden was just about the perfect presidential candidate. He seems really off his game now, though. Like he's aged 20 years since leaving the White House. His debate performances have been ragged and there's a frailty to him now. Sill, I am 100% voting for him if he gets the nomination. I think Trump winning another term is the most likely to happen. More than most likely. Almost assured. That feeling has me in a constant state of dread. ANY of the D candidates would be immesurably better th
  23. I watched this on an airplane last week. Just phenomenal. Every detail of the music was perfect. The choir arrangements, the sound of the bass, Cornell Dupree's beyond slick guitar phrases that came as little surprises. Everything. This was music on another level. I need to watch this again on a real TV through my stereo.
  24. Great recap and photos! That picture of Mike Mills (using the same guitar strap Neil Young uses) playing next to a guy who looks just like Neil Young cracks me up.
