My Zappa appreciation started when I bought "Freak Out!" and "Joe's Garage" on cassette on the same day in 1988. Watermelon in Easter Hay got a lot of play and even became the subject of one of my drum lessons (figuring out odd time signatures). From there I became obsessed with "We're Only in it for the Money", and now I've accumulated almost all of the albums except for the '80s stuff (Thing Fish, Broadway the Hard Way, Mothers of Prevention, etc.). My Zappa/Mona Lisa poster has been proudly hung in every house or apartment I've ever lived in. I can't say the same for any other posters

Right you are. Thanks for the correction. Those are still very good seats considering tickets went on sale weeks ago. They need to start promoting this show or else it's going to be a financial disaster for the band and venue.

That's true, thank god. The table shows at Chastain bring out the season pass holders who are FAR more interested in chatting with their pals and business clients than listening to music. I just checked Ticketmaster and found seats in the 15th row. (Orchestra Row O) That's not good. I looked through the Creative Loafing (Atlanta's free weekly magazine) today. There were at least 3 chastain ads. None of them mentioned the Wilco show. I didn't see any ads for the new Wilco album either, which is kind of odd since it came out this week.

I'll be there. I find it interesting that the concert has been promoted so poorly. I have not received my tickets yet. Have any of you received yours?

I'm honest enough to admit that 50% of my reason for passing on the Parker Fly is because I don't like the way it looks. Aesthetics are important. If you don't like to look at it, you're not going to touch it. If you don't touch it you can't play it. The other 50% is that I don't care for the new-technology types of instruments on the market these days. That's why I wouldn't pick the Les Paul which, if I remember correctly, is outfitted with digital processors or something. I owned a modeling amp and have screwed around with some equipment that can do lots of different things. I've c

My Tele is much heavier than any Strat I've played. It's the Muddy Waters model. If you have a chance to try one out you'll see how heavy it is. I've certainly played some lighter Teles, so maybe there's something about this particular model that makes it especially heavy. I'm pretty sure my Tele is not as heavy as the average Les Paul, but it's pretty close. It's definitely the heaviest guitar I've played since I got rid of my Les Paul. As for the shoulder cramps, perhaps the Srat's contoured backside helps alleviate some of the cramps since it conforms to your body and is more comforta

I would rank Mojo as the best of the ones you listed (those are the same ones I'm familiar with). I had an Uncut subscription for a year (2005, I think) and was fairly pleased with their feature stories (they had a good Van Morrison interview). Other than that, their coverage was nothing to write home about. Their cds were awful. Out of the 12 cds I received, I'd be lucky if I could compile one cd worth of songs I enjoyed. The Mojo cds I've heard have been much better.

Paging Dr Wilco: Get the defibrillators and save this album

I couldn't make it past "oopsie". -
It's funny how many obvious things get left out when we (I) try to mentally go through our record collections.

Yeah, I tried making a Zappa one, but that damn Cruisin' With Ruben and the Jets album ruined it. I could probably go with these, though, assuming you consider Zappa and the Mothers of Invention one entity (I know some people who don't): Uncle Meat Hot Rats Burnt Weeny Sandwich Weasles Ripped My Flesh Chunga's Revenge

Those albums are the soundtrack to right now for me snce I'll be seeing Rush one week before Wilco. Caress of Steel is their least appreciated album, but it has a lot amazing music on it.

By "other stuff" I mean you thinking that I'm messing with you and that I need to back off. I'm not messing with you. If I pissed you off, I apologize. Let's move on, shall we?
-
You're right, I'm not funny. But that other stuff? You can't be serious.

This guy knows what he's talking about.

Yes, unjustified hatred troubles me.

Now THAT is how you get out of a contract pronto.

Get a grip, it's obviously a joke. I have no idea who any of you people are, much less who your wives are, so how could I be personally insulting you?
-
So, why is he defending that guy's wife's honor?

Punching me in the face only makes what I said more likely to be true.

She looks better than anyone you've ever been involved with.

We don't all work in record stores. If you think a band is worthy of inclusion on this list, please at least say the name of the band/artist. Maybe some of us would like to check out these albums, but we can't do that if we don't know who the artist is. 4 is not 5. Whoever those bands are, none of them qualify. Sorry.

I like her because she doesn't spend her time promoting the hatred of others.
