If the F.D. had not been trashed, his network would have had to give equal time to opposing viewpoints. Pretty simple concept.

Sort of. The "Olympic White" finish has turned yellow with age. I'd pobably go with the white one, assuming they are both in good working order. I like the look of the white pickups/tortoise-shell pickguard more than the black pickups/oyster-shell pickguard. Also, I already have a red Fender guitar.

I wouldn't watch them if they played on MTV, but thats only because I don't have cable tv. As far as I'm concerned, they should agree to any and all gigs that they can stomach. Supporting their families is probably more important to them than some stranger's perception of their "cred".

I have that book, too. It's come in handy on several occaisions. For electric guitar parts it recommends Naptha lighter fluid as an all-purpose cleaner. I don't know what they recommend for cleaning or polishing acoustics, but I'll see what it says over the weekend.

Yeah, whoever wrote that is wrong. The rain poured straight down. That, in itself, is pretty unusual for Atlanta rain. If it had been windy the rain would have been coming down at an angle. I did not hear any thunder nor see any lightning.

No need to worry. It's not like you get strapped to your seat when the opening band starts. Of all the concerts I've been to that had opening bands, I'd say the opening band was enjoyable 10%-15% of the time. Generally speaking, the more I like a band, the more likely they are to have an opening band I'd rather not see.

I enjoyed their opening set in Atlanta. I'm probably somewhat biased, though. I had read the blurb from Nels' website a few years ago when I became a huge fan of his. That made me want to like them. I had not listened to them since reading about them on his site, but when I saw that they were the opening act at Chastain I made a point to get there on time and prepare myself for some quiet and slow music (I had an hour to kill before the show, so I went into the Border's near the venue and tried to sample their cds, but the cd reader wouldn't play them). I prefer these movies when it isn't painfully obvious who the "voice talent" is. I liked Madagascar pretty well, but I hated David Schwimmer's character because I couldn't forget that it was him. At least people like Steve Carrell (Over the hedge) and Andy Richter (Madagascar) made up voices different than what they're known for on their tv shows.

There was a taper about five rows in front of me. I was in Row 14 pit, so he was probably somewhere between row 8 and 10 next to the center aisle. He had a small umbrella above his mics that appeared to be sufficient during the light rain, but I think he probably put his recording gear away when the heavy rain started. Maybe he was able to record the whole show...who knows?

I saw the 10 minute teaser expecting it to be great, and it was. These are the only kinds of movies I ever go to the theater for anymore.

Awesome show. I hope everyone made it in and out of town without any trouble. Easily the rainiest concert I've'ever been to. I can still ring water out of the cash that was in my wallet. I enjoyed Low. I was not familiar with their music. I thought they were well received relative to other opening acts I've seen at Chastain.
