I'll be in Philly on Wednesday. Looking forward to it. He always plays a great show there.

Mickey gave an interview to the Newark (NJ) Star Ledger: http://www.nj.com/entertainment/music/inde...till_going.html I found this part interesting: Q: What are your memories of the 2004 tour? A. That, to me, was very chaotic. There were personal differences that hadn't been worked out, and political power plays where each guy's manager would try to make the best of it for his guy. We ended up in this management hell, and we couldn't make heads or tails out of it. So we all got out of the manager thing. We took all of that away, and gave it all to one person who we mutually trusted to

TM added 22% to the cost of the ticket with its fees (a $10 "convenience" charge per $45 ticket, not including a $5.35 order processing fee). That's pretty aggressive. This was a problem 10 years ago when Pearl Jam tried to do something about it, and I'm sure it will be a problem 10 years from now.

Space was always more enjoyable live. It was more sonic and dimensional. It was also fun to watch some of the heads really get swept up in it. I don't think I've ever listened to more than a minute or two on a tape. >I always dug The Wheel out of Space, too. Yes, nice and slow.

>The real question is...do you like Steely Dan? If so why would you miss this? Tickets were something like $125 for the shows at the Beacon Theater in NYC. That could give long-time fans pause.

I didn't know the Dead played Willie Nelson's picnic in 1978. Also on the bill were Waylon Jennings and Jerry Jeff Walker. That must have freaked out the country folk. >I guess after my July run I'll decide whether it's worth "touring", or just see that one closest show each tour.... I've thought of this myself. Looking forward to your thoughts.

>No matter how many times I have seen Wilco since the Yankee and Ghost Tour I have always heard Shot, Spiders, I'm The Man, Jesus, Heavy Metal, IATTBYH, Late Greats, Handshake, Theologians, Hummingbird, California Stars. That is true. >Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers" Nice one. Not sure if Jeff could pull off the vocals, but Nels would rip it apart.

>so apparently this is what happens when billy writes the setlist Are they taking turns?

>Anyone know when tickets go on sale to the general public for Brooklyn?? Ticketmaster says Friday at noon. That should double the price of the ticket. http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/00004292...mp;minorcatid=1

>While he is annoying you can't say he hasn't been a savvy businessman. The guy still makes a killing on his product even though their "relevance," (musically), is gone. Not bad I'msure he's made a ton of cash. And the fans don't care, so why not. If Springsteen or Neil Young sold caskets, the fans would be pretty dismayed. But in the end, of course, the "artist" (can we use that terms for Gene?) can do what he wants.

I'm in the market for my second external. Any recommendations?

7500 seat capacity plus field tix. Wonder how many seats were available for presale.
-
Brooklyn presale sold out in 5 minutes. That was quick.

Milestones> Terripan Station Very nice. I'd like to her that segue. >I was wondering if it was just me because I like songs, you know, that end when another one starts. You wouldn't care for Phil & Friends show then. Each set is one long segue. It's great when the segues work, but can be tough when it's just noodling.

Interview with Richard Lloyd, ex of Television. He's touring with his new band. http://www.nj.com/entertainment/music/inde...st_wants_t.html I found this part interesting: Q: Regarding Television, is there any possibility of more projects? A: No, I quit Television. That's it. Legally they can continue. And they did. They did a show without me (in 2007) at Central Park, because I was in the hospital. Tom used (guitarist) Jimmy Ripp, who has been his foil in his personal work for 25 years. I have nothing against Jimmy Ripp, so if they want to continue with him, God bless 'em. But I'm not g

>Over on a Dylan board, they are angry. I never understood the hate that some Dylan fans have for the Dead. I think it's pretty exciting news. I agree with you. What's to be angry about? Just be happy that new Dylan songs are on the way. It's not like Vince Welnick co-wrote the songs or sung on them.

Looks like Robert Hunter co-wrote the lyrics on 9 of the 10 songs. http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/inde...gh-life-lyrics/

The Felice Brothers - Yonder Is The Clock
dmait replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
Felice Brothers are playing Webster Hall in NYC Friday night 4/17. -
Here's another article, from the Guardian, for the completists out there: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/apr/10/booker-t-hammond

Great explanation of the release of Betty Boards in that article. I'd rather hear someone's favorite era or tour than hearing someone's opinion on best show. For me it's 73-74.

When was today's showing of the movie in NYC announced? I've been waiting for it to be shown in NYC and it's already sold out. That all happened pretty quickly.

>What really used to piss me off was the media calling him & Love "The John and Yoko of the Nineties". I mean, that's just flat-out ridiculous. That's pretty funny. You could probably call Courtney Love a modern-day Yoko: Largely irrelevant and known for having married a famous musician.

Another interview, this one on huffingtonpost.com: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adrianne-mur...a_b_183752.html Q: What's a "Potato Hole"? A: The original reference was from when slaves would dig a hole in the floor of their homes to keep the food cool. This album is my place where I've deposited my cool stuff. The tune has got a little bit of a hip-hop beat, and a little jazz in other parts. And there are other parts that are just straight rock.
