  1. Good thing nobody really cares about endorsements.
  2. From the New York Post: January 11, 2008 -- The door is open wide for the Mets to land Johan Santana, but the Twins' asking price is still too high, industry sources told the Post yesterday. The superstar left-hander could be a perfect fit for the Mets and could land at Shea Stadium, but not for the reported five top prospects, including pitcher Deolis Guerra and outfielders Carlos Gomez and Fernando Martinez. The two teams continue to talk and word out of Minnesota yesterday was that, yes, the Mets could snare Cy Young Santana for the right price, but as far as the Mets are concerned, t
  3. Well said. I will point out once again that we all benefit from the cheap labor illegal immigrants provide in the form of lower costs for goods and services. Plus, the Mexican food has, at least in upstate New York, improved a great deal over the past few years.
  4. That Son Volt album was really that bad?
  5. I would allow the licenses-for-illegal-immigrants proposal to be attached to the free-money-for-copy-editors bill.
  6. That is something that has never happened to me.
  7. An e-mail I just wrote to my best friend. I don't think McCain is a bad guy. One can envision him getting Giuliani into a headlock and saying, "Let me teach you something I learned at the Hanoi Hilton - it's called noogieboarding." I still remain firmly in Obamaland, though. Sure, I love Hillary, her steely leftist version of "Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS" Bismarckian flintiness which makes my inner Puritan swoon and her still, presumably, big plush ass (though that seems harder to see on TV anymore than FDR in a wheelchair back in the day), but I, like many Americans, want to see something new.
  8. I have had zero problems using it with XP and Firefox on my laptop and work unit. I like it so much that I have all my work e-mail automatically forwarded to a gmail account so it does not clog up my work unit.
  9. I think it's safe to say that neither party really had a sense of urgency about al-Qaida until 9/11. Clinton should have, obviously, and so should have the current Bush.
  10. From me and Peter Stuyvesant and his wooden leg. They are happier than they look!
  11. I bought that for someone who is the Megan von Richthofen to my Snoopy at Scrabble.
  12. Obama and Clinton will be battling this out all year. She ain't given up without a fight, and neither is he.
  13. No. I would marry it, if I could.
  14. Might be a javascript thing.
  15. I think people have just had it with the bullshit system, and are attempting to take our country back!
  16. Oh man. This is rotten news. Not much to be said at times like this, just feel. I felt a geeky kinship with her and hoped one day we would meet. In the next life, maybe. Until then, fond and warm wishes to Natalie, wherever she may be, and condolences to those fortunate enough to have known her better than myself.
  17. I wish they would play in Poughkeepsie again, specifically at this venue: http://www.bardavon.org/
  18. They also have a Subway, in addition to the No. 7 line. I heard someone ask for pinot grigio the last time I was there. They did not have that. And if Omar Minaya is lurking, yes, I would trade Reyes for Johan Santana.
  19. Bill Richardson will make an excellent secretary of state.
  20. They've played in the city before. Saw them at Radio City in '04; the first of two nights there. It's not like a band can say, "We would like to play here," and it happens. Venues and promoters have to cooperate.
