I think the logic goes something like if he's the highest-paid player in baseball and so friggin' great, the least he could do is carry his team in October, like good ol' Reggie used to do.

It's not irrational. They just have a heightened expectation level. While fans of other teams are relieved if their team wins a Series in their lifetime, any season short of the ring is a failure in Yankeesworld. And if Rodriguez had never come to the Yankees, I figure Giambi would be the target of all the angst. Sure, it's misdirected - Brian Cashman is to blame if anyone is, but sometimes these things happen. And as we all know, the Yankees' "special relationship" with the Phila./KC A's had a lot do with their dominance in years past. Free agency has compensated for that, but perhaps not ful

Dude, I'm from New York. All that is blah blah blah. A-Rod was brought to the Yankees to win the World Series. Until he leads the Yankees to a World Series title, he will be thought of as bitch, overrated and not good in the clutch. If Steinbrenner was the Steinbrenner of old, he would be ripping Alex like he used to rip Dave Winfield.

I agree, but they do sound sweet on the iPod.

My inner Scorpio, who thinks I would make a fine dictator, thanks you for that.

Mariners World Series titles=0 Rangers World Series titles=0 Yankees World Series titles since A-Rod joined the team=0 Stats are nice, but it's all about the rings.

I understand why he didn't do it, but I really wish Piazza would have pounded the shit out of Clemens after that.

Throwing at somebody's head, like Clemens does, is a dick move. Then again, when Clemens was born, I bet the doctor said to his mom, "You know, ma'am, having this baby was a real dick move."

Hitting batters with the pitch has been a selfregulating method in baseball for about as long as baseball has existed. It enforces adherence to the unwritten etiquette of the game.

I don't mean to be mean, but a bullpen that is substantially improved by the addition of Armando "Paging Dr. Heimlich" Benitez is in baaad shape.

Silly, and a bit suspect.

They are at 256kbps, so I would imagine they are twice as big as the 128kbps ones, I would figure.

I spent $9 on changing a mess of songs from the old to the plus format and $9.99 on Pink Floyd's Animals. The larger files sound pretty damned good.

There comes a point where all the arguments have been made several times over and, so this board does not degenerate into a trollpocalypse like so much of the Internet, a thread is closed. If people still want to fight about it, they can do it on IM or with nunchucks or pistols at 10 paces. -

"Hypnotized" is a fantastic Fleetwood Mac song. -
I'm not Jewish, but it was enormously satisfying to see Armando blow it.
