  1. That takes her out of the Solid Sound mix, fwiw.
  2. Thanks for the report(s)! I think someone pointed me toward your video of the Old 97's playing Driver 8 with Peter Buck. Sounds like a fun time. And cool about Pat playing with the Jayhawks. Joseph Arthur was down there this year, right? I know he and Pat are pretty tight, and there's probably a connection with Kraig Johnson as well. So I'm not surprised Pat would be all over the place at this thing. Can't blame a guy for wanting to get out of Chicago this time of year...⛄️❄️
  3. Yeah, you're probably right. I was just trying to think of potential hotel areas if you're not into camping...
  4. Yay! I don't have any great insights, but it seems hotels are booking up fast. The good ones in Bennington, Vermont are all booked. You still might be able to find some decent ones in the Springfield area. Where did you guys stay last time?
  5. Hopefully he doesn't bring his disease with him...
  6. Maybe they're waiting for this year's Taste of Chicago...ha!
  7. That's pretty cool! Makes sense. Saw that the Loft's Facebook posted a picture of an Orange amp and said they couldn't wait to reveal who was playing through it. Guess we know now!
  8. Well, Susie has had some more pressing matters going on in her life of late and she's the driving force behind those shows. Not to say they aren't happening, but that could be the main reason if they're not this year. Also, last year's shows were in mid-February so tickets would have had to go on sale relatively early. The show(s) have happened as late as the end of March early April before, I'm pretty sure, so there is still time. Not 100 percent sure about Sam's school, but I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that if they do benefit shows in the future, they might not benefit youth sc
  9. I was flipping through some artist's memoir in a bookstore recently — for the life of me, I can't remember which one but it was one of those types of "legacy" classic rock acts of the sort you mentioned — and there was a section of the book that was sort of a show-by-show diary of a given tour and the writer said as much in the entry on the St. Augustine Amphitheater show. He mentioned something about how all the concrete just made the sound bounce around all over the place. But he added that despite the poor sound, the crowd was particularly good so it turned out to be a good show. I don't
  10. I think Darin posted that this is the first time he and Glenn have been sidemen together in a long time. I don't know for sure, but maybe they're working on William Tyler's record? Or someone else's... From Darin's Facebook:
  11. Lol re: Dorff. Where was that? I thought Tim Robinson had a good night up there. Never really remembered him that much from SNL, but I thought he was pretty hilarious last night... Re: the comedy portion, it started with a few sketch bits from Aidy and Mike. Aidy did a sort of monologue about giving her cell number to her 9-year-old niece and the series of subsequent texts she got. Then Mike did a solo piece about school announcements and the "Creature in the Boiler Room" that I think I've seen before. And then he and Tim did a sort of fake commercial for Chimp Dongs or some such. Finally, t
  12. Wow, first After The Show post of 2015! On another frigid, snowy night in Chicago, albeit thankfully not to polar vortex proportions, Jeff played a short, intimate solo set for a great cause... No encore, which was a little weird given that the applause was definitely there until the house lights went up and he still had quite a few songs left on his "setlist" that he didn't play. Actually he ended up playing one less song than he played at last year's show, which is a little hard to believe given how much he talked last year. This year, though, he definitely played a lot better in terms o
  13. Traveling down to what's been alleged to be the worst-sounding venue in America, Rob? You must have the Wilco fever!
  14. Born Alone Be Not So Fearful [bill Fay] Please Tell My Brother Via Chicago (auction) One Sunday Morning (auction) Hoodoo Voodoo (auction) Pecan Pie (auction) New Madrid I'm The Man Who Loves You
  15. There was a kind of creep-o woman who was involved in the bidding for a song (and actually had won one). When they asked her what song she wanted to hear, she started telling some story about how she actually wanted the song for a friend she'd had a fight with or something the night previous. I knew she was in trouble when she said she wanted to film Jeff playing it for her "friend." What song did she request? I'm not sure exactly, but it definitely wasn't one of Jeff's. She sort of mumbled something like "hello goodbye or whatever that song is." Not sure if she meant the Fabs' tune or somet
  16. Was hoping he'd play something off Sukierae, especially with srmt there, but I didn't necessarily want to get into the bidding fracas (even though it's of course for a great cause). Kind of funny that people at those shows who do bid on individual songs generally always request like the same 10 ones (Via Chicago, Pecan Pie, etc.)
  17. Oh, I just assumed that when it went to two weekends that bands would play both and tour the the week in between. But maybe that's not what Jazzfest does. Haven't been down there in a few years...
  18. This basically makes it almost certain they'll be at Jazzfest in NO, probably both weekends.
  19. Oh, nice...what song? Dion is a former bandmate of VC's own excellent soul man, our buddy Twisted Acres, so I was sad to miss him with Campilongo. I take it Nels didn't sit in with them? I know he's played some with Campilongo in NYC. Once saw them do a set at the old Living Room when they did, among other tunes, Apache and I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night).
  20. That's right, elk goulash! My bad. Yeah, it's been a long time...
  21. Wow, the return of TimRoss! Glad you enjoyed. You'll have to bring some elk stew to the line potluck next time...
  22. Actually I just decided to sit in the balcony last night and watch over you guys from above...surprise!
  23. I remember some bootleg shirts outside the AmericanaramA shows, possibly with a picture of the band from the Jay era. And they've been getting bootlegged for years in Europe, fwiw.
  24. I'm not a musician, but Deeper Down seems to have quite a few chords and that's always an indicator to me of a song being a little more challenging to play. A lot of times a song might not seem that hard, but it's often ones that don't seem hard that actually are. A good example of that is Hummingbird. Not sure if you've ever gotten to see Jeff play that solo, but I never realized that one has so many chords. You wouldn't think it'd be that hard, but yikes! With Deeper Down, there's also the matter of Nels having to juggle the Jerry Jones "Shorty" 12-string and the lap steel. It's deceptiv
