It really has gotten to the point where I personally have to think about just that. I could almost understand it taking so long to get tickets for me since I'm not based in the UK, but it's troubling to hear that you guys have the same problems. Honestly I can't remember a time I've bought through Sandbag that I haven't had some sort of issue and, although they are always very nice when you e-mail or phone them, it's getting to the point where I think I'm probably just better off waiting to buy from another agency.

Sappy's good sometimes! And you're welcome! (Was the record as good as the cover art?)

Yay! Happy for you guys (even if it's not likely I'll be able to get there)!

Love the backstage group shot, but no closeups of Ms. Bolme? -
New European tour date: Brussels, Belgium 2 March 2012 !

Thanks for the offer! I was more just wondering why some countries have ticket systems that are so efficient and others where you can't even get them to accept your credit card or make a print-at-home ticket. Was just curious. -

Pretty outrageous that the shipping charges, at least through the agency linked on Wilcoworld (which is different than the fnac link you posted, Samuel; the fnac site appears to be only in French) is nearly 75 percent of the ticket price itself for shipping anywhere except France. I think the ticket was 40-something Euros and the shipping was 30 Euros! I can almost understand it for shipping to the USA, etc., but that must be annoying for you non-French-residing Europeans. Anyway, I don't understand why they can't make the tickets print-at-home (like the very efficient Swiss) and keep the ship -

Sorry, sorry! I can attest to OSM as opener versus mid-set, though. I really like it as an opener, especially when it flows into AoA and I Might. Just something about that sequencing reminds me of Poor Places>Reservations>IATTBYH (though I'm not sure if that's ever actually happened). I think OSM as opener in a theater setting, especially, works really well because as someone else has mentioned, it forces the audience to pay attention right away and get focused on the show. I think mid-set does create a lull sometimes, though I think when it's followed by Shouldn't Be Ashamed, it's a p

The nyctaper list that someone posted earlier in this thread is correct. The ???? was Standing O.

Flip Whole Love and Born Alone and you've got it right...

...they're breaking street date by a week and selling the new record at the show tonight in Boston. Or so I hear. So much for what I said in another thread about them not jumping the gun. Ha!

Not to quote myself, but forget what I said. I just heard from "a source" that apparently they're selling the new album at the show tonight in Boston...

Nick's been playing pretty much exactly 40 minutes, so whenever he starts, count on that timing for his set. I'm pretty sure they have to be done by no later than 10 at Summerstage shows, so that accounts for the ultra-early start. I'd say Wilco doesn't come out until closer to 8, though. Maybe 7:45. Something tells me Nick isn't going on until probably 6:30 at the earliest.

I just have to say, and I'm sure this will probably happen again sometime as the new songs get integrated into the band's catalog, but I think this show might have been a first for me: not a single song from Being There. Interesting... Now if that were ever to be the case with, say, Summerteeth...
-
I think the "breakout party" comment probably just referred to the fact that they played eight songs off The Whole Love, the most they've done in a single show yet. As far as selling the new record, I'm reasonably certain they're not going to break street date (or at least not by more than a day ), so I wouldn't expect to see it at the merch table for a few more days yet.

This was actually Rising Red Lung, FYI.

Re: "One Sunday Morning," It seemed pretty faithful to the studio version, inasmuch as I've actually listened to it thus far (which is to say not that much). I have to say that for me, one big difference with between these two Massey Hall shows was that the sound was markedly better the second night. I was sitting in virtually the same seats both nights, so it's not that I was sitting in a worse spot Friday night or anything. And it's not that the sound was bad on Friday, just that I felt it was a bit muddy, especially with respect to Nels' guitar. Thankfully whatever adjustments were made

FWIW, I've got both the Wilco and Nick Lowe setlists posted here. Nick's set was identical to Night 1. He mentioned battling some sort of "throat infection," which manifested itself in an occasional croak. Mostly, though, you couldn't tell. But on "Cruel To Be Kind," he chuckled at himself when he realized he just couldn't quite hit the high note in the chorus on "baaaaaby." Later he sort of asked the crowd to help him out, which was kind of cool actually. I always thought that was just such a great singalong song.

If the first two shows of this run are any indication, Nick goes on about 10 minutes after the posted show time and plays for 40 minutes. Tonight at Massey Hall, that meant he was on stage at about 7:40 and played until right around 8:20. Wilco were on at just about 8:40 or so, and played until 10:30. Hope that helps.

Just posted the complete setlists for both Wilco and Nick Lowe for Massey Hall, Night One here. Nick was great again (FYI he did "All Men Are Liars" tonight, Donna). Could see most of the Wilco guys watching his set from just off stage. Hearing him do "Alison" was fantastic -- he hit just the right melancholic, almost wistful tone with his performance. So that was definitely a highlight for me. During Wilco's encore, I could see Nick watching from the wings and I thought tonight he might come out and join them on a song, whether it might be "I Love My Label" or "California Stars" or whatever

Sorry, Donna. Not my intention, of course... But yeah, Nick is in fine form. He's got so many songs, it'll be interesting to see what he plays from night to night. I imagine he'll work in different songs from the new record each night and maybe switch out some of the hits as well (though I imagine Peace, Love and Understanding will be a constant and I hope Cruel To Be KInd -- one of my favorite songs ever -- is). Kudos to the Indy crowd, which gave him a couple of standing ovations at various points. Just before Wilco finished, Jeff took a moment to thank Nick for sharing the stage, sa

Thanks, ditty, for absolving me from setlist duty for one night. I just have to say that Nick Lowe was so awesome. Anybody seeing a show on this run, definitely make sure to get there in time to catch his set! He's playing solo acoustic, and tonight he played about 40 minutes with a good mix of songs from his new record, The Old Magic (which was coincidentally released earlier in the day), a couple of album cuts and some absolute classics. He said it had "been a while" since he had last performed in Indianapolis, mentioning Rockpile opening for Blondie in 1979. Just in case anybody wa

Wilco -- 28/9/10, Prague, CZ, Stimul Festival
bböp replied to hippityville's topic in After The Show
I think this was mentioned someplace in one of those epic recent threads in Just A Fan that I don't have the energy to go searching through right now, but I noticed that this Prague show from last fall is now streaming in the Roadcase on Wilcoworld. An awesome recording of an awesome show! The last full-band show of 2010 and the band's first-ever in Prague, I believe, featured great renditions of Too Far Apart and Kicking Television, among other songs. I was lucky enough to attend, and I can attest that the energy (both band and crowd) for this one was high. Definitely worth checking out, IMHO -
Montreal doesn't count as Canada?
