  1. so I get this note earlier in the week: and then I get this note today: and sometimes the world is a happy happy place. Indie music, in a church, with beer. This could be a whole entry in the Stuff White People Like blog.
  2. Gilbert O Sullivan - Alone again, Naturally The Looking Glass - Brandi (you're a fine girl, what a good wife you will be...) did Hanson have more than mmmMbop?
  3. what a large, large j-peg. (The John Henrys - Sweet as Grain) Matt - get your butt over to their Myspace page. You'd like this. http://www.myspace.com/thejohnhenrys
  4. I'm thinking Pink Floyd, or even something more contemporary like Wolf Parade. I like it. New to me though, so I'll see if the fascination lasts. Matt - It is Montreal's Plants and Animals and a concepty album about living the the city's Parc Avenue area.
  5. you see this? http://blog.newsarama.com/2008/03/13/fearf...e-watchmen-ads/ a comparison of the original Watchmen ads to the stills.
  6. loving the sun session ep this morning. 'Talk to me devil again'
  7. wow. didn't know that Dave 'The Rocketeer' Stevens passed away recently. Rest in Peace. I believe all those Betty Page fetishists owe him big.
  8. You're probably right. My impression of accelerate is that it's a warmed over but still tepid Monster sound alike. If something grabbed me the way Feeling Gravity's Pull, Wolves Lower, or even Frequency Kenneth did I guess I would not be as cynical about the promotion. But I did find an old 'zine circa 1985 that I wrote for:: I used to love that band.
  9. I dunno if it's from reading too much about accelerate, looking at the 9 web sites they have for the album or now the cross-sell shit of having Time-Warner post stupid stuff like the above. I'm sick of it and the cds not even out.
  10. 1. Dirtbombs - We Have You Surrounded (I'm right about this, you are all wrong. I rock) 2. Ladyhawk - Shots 3. Wooden Sky - Lost at Sea 4. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever ago 5. Sun Kil Moon - April 6. Kathleen Edwards - Asking for Flowers 7. Hayden - In Field and Town 8. Corby Lund - Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier (yeah I cheat, but I think this will get a 2008 US release) 9. Constantines - Kensington Heights 10. Black Keys - Attack and Release 11. Kelley Stoltz - Circular Sounds 12. She and Him - Vol 1 lots that I still have to listen to - Supergrass, Tindersticks, 13 Ghos
  11. Sorry to say, I have not been able to get into the DBTs. I do love Isbell though. If I had to say I was devoted to one band and only one band, it would be You Am I from the land of Kangaroos.
  12. yeah - thanks - that is quite the venue in the vid.
  13. cool, a new shearwater song and a live New Pornos song. http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/t...or-records.aspx edit - the shearwater song is marvee.
  14. Dave Foley and Hollerado. 'I think sex was created by God to unite a man ... and an employee' From Crackle: hollerado americanarama
