  1. Matt, You'd love this. Kelly Hogan is a big fan, usually taking a couple songs from each Rizdales album and doing great covers. I (very) briefly considered being their Manager for all of 10 seconds last summer. They asked and I thought of all the cocaine, money, whiskey and sex that it would entail and put my feet back down on the ground. That's Tom and Tanya across the bottom.
  2. He's a really nice guy. My husband and I first met he and Jenny a number of years ago. He complained that all the people he called friends were in the music business, so we've ended up becoming the defacto-non-industry buddies. As a promo, listen to this: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bxgb11 'Lay off the late night rants Doll We're both a little bit run down And if we're whole I run the heart While you control the soul.'
  3. got my paws on a real copy 'The band is the brainchild of happily married couple Tara and Tom Dunphy, who pretty much sing about nothing but infidelity, heartbreak, drinking and a host of other subject matter befitting the country canon. Live, the juxtaposition of a couple gazing adoringly at one another as they duet about how dysfunctional their relationship is can be quite interesting to say the least' - Exclaim
  4. Weework records (OX, Elliott Brood, Two Minute Miracles - ie a small label with so much good musical taste it must leak out an bodily orifice) is sending the Two Minute Miracles and Barmitzvah brothers out across the country just in time to enjoy the good weather. re the reviews below. They are true. The new Two Minute Miracles sounds like an answer to that question of 'What if Jay Bennett and Jeff Tweedy were still collaborrating'. It is as good as Summerteeth.
  5. Cool! I've had the thing really grow on me. The great songs, and there are like 5 or 6 of them, pushing me into liking the 'only' good songs.
  6. Not to go all A-man on you, but Rich, who played keyboards on some of the early Richmond Fontaine albums is/used to be a member of these forums. Not sure if he worked on the the Fitzgerald or more recent stuff, but still, if we had unending webspace, we could probably go find his posts and PMs about the sessions. He had some pretty good Willy Vaultin (sp?) tales.
  7. Yeah - we've posted about Boris before - probably in one of the Now Playing threads. Good band and thanks for posting about them again....
  8. True. I think that was and will continue to be the problem of these indie awards - Polaris, Mercury, maybe the Arias etc. Their juries are constantly thinking 'They don't need the press' when casting a ballot for a something not as good as the other nominees. I still like Neon Bible an awful lot. Maybe it isn't as knock you on the teeth as funeral, but keep the car running, intrevention, the Bruce Springsteen sounding song.. those were all exceptional. onto: Neil Young - Chrome Dreams II
  9. You're a pretty big Buckley fan though right? I want to rip out my eyes when Patrick Watson gets played. Guess I'm not really open to that kind of affected vocal, but whatever... Other part for not really liking is that it is by far the weakest of the Polaris nominees. How it got groupthinked into winning is beyond me. I mean Neon Bible, the Remainder, Woke Myself Up, Skelliconnection.... life is too short to listen to even so-so music. My Buddy Moose I think MBM is Croatian twang. cool.
  10. ^^^ I try to pimp local, but I can't stand that. Weak Buckley vocals with no redeeming instrumentation. I have no idea why it won the recent Polaris.
  11. Unfortunately, not the whole thing, so I can't say. NP Sadies - New Seasons
  12. Rich, left a note for Mark and Brian on their Myspace page. Hope they or Phil at Weework will get in contact with you.
  13. Cuff the Duke - Sidelines in the City. I am not prepared for this. Nice little folky country band goes all tonight's the night.
  14. YES! In fact they are just as good as Reunion and Reconstruction. I also can help you out in these uncertain, Oink-free times. Back to the Acorn -
  15. woah, is that Tweedy version of Simple Twist of Fate pretty friggin great.
  16. Video for "I Don't Remember' is kinda cute. http://www.last.fm/music/Powderfinger/+vid...on%27t+remember
  17. It's making me go break out Reconstruction Site, Fallow and Left and Leaving. Maybe having 5 years between cds is a good thing, cause it all sounds new. Take eight minutes and divide Sun in an empty room By ninety million lonely miles Sun in an empty room Watch a shadow cross the floor Sun in an empty room We don't live here anymore Sun in an empty room
  18. 'For the most part I think about golfing and constantly calculate all the seconds left in minutes and so on et cetera'
  19. Would have been pretty funny if it was Cleveland OH, sucky baseball fans and all, but it's Cleveland UK. Wonder if they have sucky Cricket fans?
  20. Umm, I'm sure they would love some Line of Best Fit coverage. Can I tell them to contact you?
