  1. air supply : a parts & labor bagpipe mixtape Never thought I needed a mixtape of rock and roll with bagpipe music, but there you go. cool, or sort of cool. It's bagpipes. http://www.allez-allez.co.uk/
  2. Yeah - that was me posting it. Wanted to get more information and possibly see if there was another side to the story. Turns out that the thing was cancelled mid-tour, no one thought to call the opener and it seems the tour manager was a dick. Good going major label band! Reading far too much into this, it sort of reinforces this pompous, self-important image I have of the Decemberists. They call their message board 'Orate'. Geez.
  3. Kalle - they are certainly a new to me band, and while I decry the Blogs, I gotta hand it to them for pointing out good stuff. Wooden Stars are here in Dec at the tiny pub. I've been listening to only a small number of Mp3s , but I think I'll go and pick up a disc. They certainly sound good. Kev. sorry, not teeing off on you for liking miracle fortress so much as frustration that they seem to be an 'it' band.
  4. I've tried with Miracle Fortress and I guess it's just not my thing. Trouble is I don't see the novelty in it either - the music seems very generic and no different than 100 other pandabeargrizzlybearbesnardlakes Brian Wilson wannabees with keyboards and more than one vocalist. Worse, I think the band is a symptom of the worst in insular, Canadian Blog-circle-jerking. I mean look at this list http://www.iheartmusic.net/serendipity/ind...07-edition.html Some of it I love (acorn, julie dorion, Basia Bulat etc) and have to thank those same insular Blogs for the pimping, but geez,
  5. Fucking Canadians and their not-so-good-bands. Why that country flushes all these indie bands down to the good ole USA, I will never know.
  6. thanks. A sampling I will go.
  7. I don't think you can go wrong. I've got the first version of Palo Santo as well and Everybody Makes Mistakes and both get a lot of rotation. Just a good band with Meiburg having a very good voice. Saw them live too, and I was also impressed.
  8. Actually, that's the one I feel guilty about. Had no idea he had released something this year until these type of lists started mentioning it. Obviously you like it. Tell me why....
  9. yes. and (uyen) remember (uyen) to (uyen) give (uyen) at (uyen) least (uyen) the (uyen) artist's (uyen) name (uyen), so (uyen) we (uyen) know (uyen) who (uyen) is (uyen) being (uyen) talked (uyen) about. Pictures are nice too.
  10. shit, we can imbed videos? edit - guess not.
  11. Mark Davis - Mistakes I Meant to Make New to me, but I like it. And a country version of Grant Hart's 'She Floated away'. Must track this down. The Huskers cover is up here: http://www.myspace.com/markwdavis
  12. Broken Family Band - Hello Love (I get really jealous of all the Brits I meet on these board-things. This band refuses to tour North America, yet seems to play every small pub from Cambridge to Hull. Their musical timing is near perfect, with the last song, Seven Sisters, having backing vocals layered in such a way to remind me of a wall that gets higher with each pass. The guitar gets more electric and, adds a couple of extra notes and fuck it! There
  13. How the past chews on your shoes, And these memories lick my ear. I know, You might roll your eyes at this, But I'm so Glad that you exist. How we waste our precious time, Marching in the picket line, That surround those striking hearts, And the time is never now, And we know who we should love, But we're never certain how. Sounds like members Medave and La have had a great time at recent Weakerthan concerts. Rich - do you have this one? Bestest of the best.
