Kathleen Edwards - Building 55 Never even heard of this before.

alright! US release date Feb 8th on Beggars/Rough trade, not that CD releases mean much anymore.
-
I asked and she just might be. That will be a not-miss set of concerts.

you seen the vid? http://pitchforkmedia.imeem.com/video/LIne...ow_music_video/ hilarious A:'You don't love me anymore' KK:'That's not true, I could drown in a sea of your blue eyes' A: 'They're brown'

Will I follow you home again How's it feel to disappear Like seriously, disappear And take a stab from papa's spear Getting drunk on rotten air

I'll go see if I can get loaners from my indie store. Not sure if they have them. Otherwise Steve Lambke plays locally every half year or so. I'll see if I can pick it up from him.

Weakerthans - Reunion Tour (pic of David Reimer of 'Hymn for a Medical Oddity)
-
Isn't it simply amazing? Turns out there was a small 500 run of Glory Hope Mountain on Vinyl that they are selling at shows. I don't own a working turntable, and I still bought the thing.
-
perhaps go to Outside-music and buy them? http://www.outside-music.com/home.php

had no idea that the Weakerthans 'Hymn for a Medical Oddity' was about the sad case of Winnipeg's David Reimer and a botched sex re-assignment. Reunion Tour just keeps getting stronger and stronger. Oh, all the words I should not know those doctors wrote on me Swell up and from their syllable won't let me get to sleep. The sun will start later, clock out early And I'll drive around and wait for it. Follow familiar roads emptied of every memory Under a sheet of silence and unmarked snow. Then idle in some parking lot, smoke half a smoke and ask St. Boniface and St. Fratel preserve me

this looks good:

Thanks Kyle! Jan. 26 London, ON Aeolian Hall That is actually a perfect setting for him, aside from ducking through the Crack Dealers and ladies who ask you for an expensive date.
-
thanks for the news. I love the John Denver and AC/DC cover albums next after Ghosts. Both are surprisingly great.

New to me. Strange how you can totally miss records and acts...

Oh baby settle down You're gonna paint those blue eyes brown And trade a new day for an old one Well it's jealous and it's mean But we're gonna paint your blue eyes green Trade a new day for an old one

Ladyhawk is in town on Wednesday. Alright Ladyhawk. (they seem to talk about themselves in the third person, 'Ladyhawk does this and Ladyhawk does that'. Usually I try to talk to bands after shows, if only to say that I really enjoyed their set. Not so sure I'll do that with these guys. Very strange band) My old jackknife is always on me And every time they tie me up I cut myself loose I cut myself loose I walk alone my hand upon it Everytime I slash a tire I cut myself loose I cut myself loose Angels reaching down from on high Place their blessings on it

Anyone heard the new Weakerthans?
lizish replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
also nicked from chromewaves but with an AOL Canada source. In this one Samson talks books and poetry. Didn't know that Samson loved 'in the skin of the lion' almost as much as I do. http://music.aol.ca/article/the-weakerthans/223/ The Weakerthans Stay Strong and Free By Michael Barclay The Weakerthans Epitaph/Anti Only a Canadian band would ever write a punk rock song about curling. But the preferred pastime of small-town retirees, which is the setting for "Tournament of Hearts" off the new Weakerthans album 'Reunion Tour,' is not the only Canadian concern of bandleader John K. I  that cover. Emailed the artist, Stewart Jones, and will *hopfully* be buying something of his. http://www.myspace.com/stewjones Jay- take a look at the stuff in this myspace photogallery. Very beautiful. NP - Okkervil River - You Can't Hold The Hand Of A Rock And Roll Man (Skiffle Version). This would have been nice on the album
