    Candy Golde

You can now hear the Candy Golde cover of that Paul Simon song. Sounds even cooler live. http://hypem.com/#!/item/19zeg/Candy+Golde+-+The+Boy+in+the+Bubble+Paul+Simon+cover
  2. Who song John sang was "Armenia City in The Sky"
  3. Even though I knew they covered "Boy in the Bubble" on the EP and I heard them yell, "let's do Bubble" on stage, I was still caught off guard by the cover. It didn't sound anything like Paul Simon and it wasn't until I actually listened to the lyrics they were singing, that I realized what it was. Very cool version, just very unique.

    Candy Golde

Saw them on Friday @ Club Deville in Austin during SXSW. More details, as best as my foggy mind can recall right now... http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/45286-candy-golde-sxsw-show-1/
  5. This was surreal. I witnessed a packed and amazing set by Telekinesis at The large, but hot, The Parish club on 6th Street, then headed over to Club Deville on Red River. The stage was set-up outside under a large tent. Milling about in the crowd was Jody Stephens of Big Star. I introduced myself and told him when I saw him I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to tell him how much I loved Big Star. He said he himself was walking over to do the very same thing to Bun E. Carlos. Bun E. Carlos can still rock those drums and twirl those sticks. He's very skinny and stopped smoking and w
  6. How about a free concert at Pritzker to celebrate the inauguration?

  9. Game on. Rahm is back on the ballot to stay. So I guess Jeff will still get to Rock for Rahm on Sunday.
  10. Nice mention of the Walter & Wendell album in this week's Chicago Reader Gossip Wolf column... http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/michael-cera-intonation-music-workshop-bruce-lamont-smart-bar-dfa-bign-weasel-walter-wendell/Content?oid=3105008
  11. Wow, I'm going to assume you guys are the vocal minority and that there are plenty of Wilco/Tweedy fans who will happy to see Jeff perform in a (for Chicago) small setting.
  12. It is now official... https://secure.chicagoforrahm.com/events/chicago0130.html Cheapest tickets are $85.
  13. There was a mention in the Sun-Times about Jeff Tweedy playing a fundraiser for Rahm Emanuel on Sunday January 30, 2011 at Chicago's Park West nightclub. http://www.suntimes.com/news/sneed/3318603-452/peterson-savio-sneed-thomas-drew.html "Rahm ’em . . . Singer Jeff Tweedy, of Wilco fame, will headline a “low dollar” ($50 to $250 a tickets) fund-raiser for mayoral hopeful Rahm Emanuel on Jan. 30 at the Park West." Nothing on the Wilcoworld.net site yet. Nothing on the Rahm site yet.
  14. Oh, in case you didn't notice (and since it was mentioned in the GloNo article), yes...both Joey and Steve were/are members of the Wilco crew. Steve Versaw has been part of the Wilco crew since 2007 I believe. He's currently Production Manager, and when on the road, he's also Monitor Engineer. Steve was also a long-time sound engineer at Schubas Tavern in Chicago. Nicest sound guy (next to Stan of course, right Stan?) that you'll ever meet. Joey King was guitar tech on recent tours, though not sure when he started working on the Wilco crew. Another bit of Wilco crew trivia. Back in
  15. Very nice article on Walter & Wendell in GloNo... http://bit.ly/GloNoWW
  16. The only time I was able to catch The M's live was when they opened for Wilco at The Vic in Chicago on 12-Jun-2004.
  17. They are now streaming the entire Walter & Wendell 'Adjusted Automatically' album on the Movings site. http://themovingslabel.com/ For a limited time, if you buy the download, you get a bonus track.
  18. Hear some great new music from Walter & Wendell (Joey King and Steve Versaw, formerly of The M's). http://themovingslabel.com/ If you saw The M's open up for our beloved Wilco back in the mid '00's you may recognize Joey and Steve as founding members of that group. Also, if you tend to pay attention to the Wilco crew you may also recognize Joey and Steve as those who were black on stage at a Wilco show and help Tweedy and the boys play and sound so great. They are gearing up to release a new album that was recorded at the Loft in 2009 and a few other spots around Chicago. It feat

  20. Fruit Bats @ Ottos in 2003, I was not there but that's what I recall.
  21. Thanks Paul! Good to know you are still on the case. Glad to know that The National rumor was just that -- a rumor.
