  1. saw a screening of this on saturday. wonderful stuff. Queued up tonight:
  2. I'm going to a 90s indie/britpop revival night later. A DJ friend of mine ran the original back in the day... I was about 12 at the time so it's an odd experience for me.
  3. i'm not requesting songs for a mixtape for a significant other as i'm currently lovelorn, but i do have to DJ on valentine's day, so i need some alternative/indie/electronica/folk lovesongs that will make all the hearts in the room flutter. or something.
  4. went to see this last night: beautiful movie. gondry is a genius.
  5. two of my favourite books are Lethem's Motherless Brooklyn and The Fortress of Solitude. I cannot recommend them enough. I haven't read that one though.
  6. i love his work but would like to hear your thoughts on him. Hopefully people here are able to hear an opposing view on books and not flip out. NR: Daniel Handler - Adverbs
  7. just finished Season 2 of 24. Now normal life can resume... at least until the inevitable happens and I buy Season 3. Avoiding spoilers for future seasons is so hard at the moment.
  8. I've saw Pan's Labyrinth the other day, which I liked but don't think lived up to some of the praise I've read. Today I watched the Michel Gondry music video etc DVD which I loved and must get a copy of for myself ASAP. the man is a genius. Also watched The Fisher King.
  9. today my friends and i watched all 12 episodes of R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet while hungover. Marvellous.
  10. On friday I watched: and now I've launched into: When I watched Season 1 I didn't do much else... it's shaping up the same with this one, although I'm 6 hours in and it's not quite up there with the last one.
  11. I'm seeing it tomorrow night in HD. I'm intrigued even though fantasy isn't usually my thing.
  12. I stumbled across this while browsing round the internet last night and it sounds intriguing. It doesn't seem readily available in the UK but the nearest Borders might have an import. I didn't come of age in the 80s or 90s (i don't think i've come of age yet, actually!) but I've always been fascinated by the making and receiving of mixes and the intimacy of them. I picked up a couple of memoirs last week that I'm going to alternate with the stack of Palahniuk novels my friend has lent me. Augusten Burroughs Running with Scissors and Nick Flynn's Another Bullshit Night in Suck City. It used
  13. Big fan of Black Books. First season is definitely the best but the other two are well worth watching too.
  14. Float On was the first MM song I heard and I loved Good News... Moon is better but I still love that song.
  15. I'm about to start Everything is Illuminated. I thought the film was good so i'm going straight into the book, despite having read half of Foer's second novel and then putting it down.
  16. sometimes it's good to turn to records you haven't listened to in a while.
  17. yeah.. big MM fan but this isn't that great. Catchy I guess.
  18. I wasn't familiar with her until a friend lent me the above collection. A few pages from finishing and I'm impressed. I'll probably revisit it at some point.
  19. i tried to laptop DJ tonight and it was a nightmare... first i had it connected to the wrong inputs, then the software fucked up and it disturbed the song that was playing... there's something to be said for concrete over abstract. it's easier to deal with a CD skipping than a laptop throwing a hissyfit.
  20. i am sad because last week i got bleach on my dark brown cords and today i had a pen leak in the pocket of my light cords.
