No strings or horns at the ATP show, perhaps that'a what it missed. They just sounded like a regular Americana band, lots of guitars with some occassion keyboards...

I'm like that with Amis' newer books... I love his stuff, but Yellow Dog was a real low point, I really struggled through it. But books like Time's Arrow, Rachel Papers and Money will always ensure I've got a soft spot for him.

I saw them at ATP over the weekend - they're turning into Bright Eyes - the set contained mostly new stuff and it didn't have, imo, the energy or bite, live at least, of Black Sheep Boy. I didn't get to see the whole set as Wilco was one, but still, they were a bit of a disappointment.

There were a couple of us there! A little mini-VC convention between me, Rich (muller) and Mark (M_thomp). I'm back in work today and completely drained! Shellac, Wilco, Band of Horses, Echo and the Bunnymen, Mogwai and Two Gallants were the highlights for me. Daniel Johnson is just funny, The Thermals kick started the weekend with some energy, Yo La Tengo still confound most people, Akron / Family were disappointing, The Go! Team were a hoot and Okkervil River is turning into Conor Oberst. I thought the festival as a whole was missing something compared to ATP last year - the site is pe -
Hello - just got back. M_thomp and Muller was there are well but I don't have a full set list. We did get Via Chicago, Poor Places, Spiders (kidsmoke), Shake It Off, Side with the Seeds, You Are My Face, Walken, Impossible Germany and I'm The Man Who Loves You off the top of my head... It was fantastic - Jeff played the intro to Poor Places with a cheeseburger and was incredibly relaxed and very chatty. They were staying in a castle apparently! I haven't seen Wilco post-AGIB and was amazed - it was a fanastic sound and Nels really does add something to the line-up live. The sound wa

The Latitude Festival has got a great line up this year, that's for sure. I think I might miss ATP and go for it next year... it's only down the road (well, an hour or so away)...
