But can you type while staring at the screen? That is the quintessential question.

I need to look to make sure I hit the right key to start and after that I can look at the screen, bvut I'm slooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww. When I do that,. anyway.

that's one of the worst typos i've seen in all my 17 years.

typing typos is fun. I always look at the keyboard so I don't screw things up too often, but mistakes happen...

I never did learn proper punctuation skils, so I often have problems with that.

Red fox, brown dog.

Well, that's how it would be in the real world. But for the purpose of jamming all 26 letters into one short sentence, it's The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

Important stuff, this. :brow

Touch typing seems like kind of a dying skill, which is weird since everyone uses computers all the time now. Sometimes when coworkers come over to talk to me and I'm typing a document, I'll look up at them but continue typing and bang out the rest of a pragrraph without looking at the screen. It freaks them out a little.

A previous poster said that typing was the most valuable class (s)he took in high school, and I think I agree with that. Doesn't say much for my education, but being able to type 30 wpm+ got me my first real job (typesetter).
