Isn't there some law that says two teams from the same city shall not win their respective division titles in the same year?

Big Papi is only one man, and look what he does for that team.

The Sox, who are a combined 27-3 vs. the Baltimore Orioles and National League East opponents, fell to 42-54 against everyone else.

Ouch. Just....ouch.

Thank goodness they sent The Bird some friends to help cheer him up...

Darrin Jackson: "Dmitri Young was swinging the bat very well coming off the disabled list. Of course we haven't seen any if it from him."

As the last couple words come out of D.J.'s mouth, Dmitri hits a monstrous shot, deep into the right field bleachers. Beautiful.

With the exception of Albert Pujols, I don't think there is a single hitter I would rather build a franshise around than Miguel Cabrera. He hit his 100th homer in 3 and a quarter seasons tonight. His most comparable player according to Baseball reference is Hank Aaron. Not bad.

That's a little bit deceptive. His most comparable player by age is Hank Aaron, but overall, his most comparable player is Hideki Matsui. Now, for as young as Cabrera is, that's still very good company, and he will almost certainly exceed Matsui's career by leaps and bounds, but Cabrera has a year more experience than Aaron did at his age. It certainly is a good guy to be that similar too, but I'd be careful overstating the similarities, as Aaron's numbers at that age weren't quite as good as they were for the bulk of his career.

But that doesn't mean he's not a great player to build a franchise around. Definately one of the best. I think A-Rod still has enough good years left that I'd choose him over Cabrera, but you could definately do far worse. He plays several positions pretty well, and he's a great young hitter. He certainly has the potential to be an all time great.

I'd love to see Cabrera put up a 4th season like Hank's, though.

Cabrera is pretty awesome. It seems like he's already been around a while. Hard to believe he's still so young.

If I were a Marlins fan, I think I'd be happy if Cabrera could put up the numbers from any of the years between Aaron's 3rd and 18th years. I'm guessing that Cabrera will put up at least a few of those seasons, but probably won't have quite the longevity that Henry Aaron did. Few do though.

Yeah, definetly. I'm hoping they sign him long term as soon as possible. I think the Marlin organization's top two goals are getting a new stadium and resigning Cabrera.

He's the 6th youngest player to 100 home runs.

If someone had told me in April that Esteban Loaiza would pitch a four-hit shutout this season, I would have taken that person the nearest psych ward.

Mulder wouldn't make a couple of team's rotations. The Marlins may be able to fit him in long relief or something, though.

I bet the Cards are wishing they had Dan Haren back.

That'll go down as one of the worst trades of the decade.

That trade kind of freaked me out because it happened only a couple of days after Hudson got shipped off, but now I'm a total Haren fangirl. And how much ass does Kiko Calero kick? It kind of makes up for the Hudson trade being a bust for the A's. (Although the Braves aren't getting much out of Hudson these days.)

With their loss last night to Cleveland, the KC Royals were eliminated in the AL Central.

Wow, that's early.

Next up: Tampa Bay (E: 12), or Washington (E: 13).
