So they still have a shot at the wild card!

Yup, their wild card E # is 7. So we're probably looking at Sunday for elimination there.

Casey hit a liner to third baseman Joe Crede and then stopped running and pivoted toward home when it appeared the ball was caught before sprinting to avoid an embarrassing putout. Left fielder Pablo Ozuna charged and made a bouncing throw that just beat Casey.

I wonder how many times that has happened. I remember hitters being thrown out by right fielders, but never LF.

Yeah, that's just embarrassing.

That's why Little League coaches are always telling their players to run it out, no matter what play the fielder should be able to make.

As a major leaguer, that's just inexcusable. Not that it really mattered in that game. What a mess.

Speaking of little league, how about that 6-8 kid on the Saudi team. Holy crap.

That "kid" has got to be on growth hormone. Got to.

You know, if it weren't for the fact that Boston is playing both teams ahead of them (I think), it would generally be easier for them to win the division than the wild card. It's hard to make up ground on two teams at once, especially when said teams have a lot of games with each other. Obviously if they go on some crazy streak and win 18/20 or something they should be in good shape, but yeah.

Joe Morgan just explained that bunting in Little League is harder than bunting in the Majors. His reasoning was that, since the mound is so much closer than in the bigs, the hitters don't have as much time to get squared up.

I realize that Joe Morgan is not a smart man, but he has to recognize that the Little League pitchers don't throw as fast as the pros, right?

If the Tigers get to the World Series, I'm going to run down the streets of downtown Detroit naked.

That's awesome that you just moved into the dorms. Have fun, dude. College is awesome. Freshman year was probably the best year of my life. Live it up.

Yeah, it's definetly an experience. I'm across the hall from 2 huge red sox fans, I'm rooming with a mets fan, and I've seen a shitload of yankees and boston hats, but no Marlins. I'm the only one sporting it.

Sounds like the premise for a sitcom. Call your agent!

Wait, you're at FIU and surrounded primarily by fans of teams from the Northeast? I guess the "snowbird" phonemenon has extended beyond retirees and now includes college students? :brow (not that I blame them)

Unfriendly confines of racist hate mail -

One well-known sports sociologist says Dusty Baker's disclosure of nasty letters stirs an uncomfortable subject but creates a discussion that needs to happen.

Why not just realize that a few kooks hardly speak for an entire fan base and a $4 million salary buys a measure of discretion when dealing with matters so potentially explosive?
