parisisstale
Man, I'm sick of all the whining by the SEC coaches and fans, especially Urban Meyer. Will that guy ever shut up? The Rutgers message board has been bombarded by SEC rednecks (oops, I mean fans) bitching and moaning about everything and anything. So thankful that at least Auburn lost. Cal was nice too. The Gators should have gone down today. While I completely agree that the SEC is the best conference, every single one of those top teams is flawed. Arkansas actually looks like the best team right now. That McFadden is incredible!!! edit: forgot about Texas losing too...awesome day all around
Moltisanti
I really don't understand why Urban Meyer would be whining about Rutgers. Not really very much of a chance they could pass the Gators if both teams win out. I'm ready to start getting officially fired up about Michigan at Ohio State.

Not really very much of a chance they could pass the Gators if both teams win out. I'm ready to start getting officially fired up about Michigan at Ohio State. He didn't say anything about Rutgers. I was just referring to his Louisville comments from earlier in the week. This is the same guy who a few years ago was clamoring about how his Utah team with their powerhouse schedule deserved to play with the big boys. I know there's no way RU can get the NC game. Hell, I still don't really believe that we can win in Morgantown. I'm just enjoying the ride. All I really want right now is for Florida to lose.
Moltisanti
Well, I haven't been one to shit all over the Big East this year. A couple of weeks ago I even thought you could make the case they were at least as good as some of the other major conferences. But I don't know about now. I was at the game earlier in the season where USF almost beat Rutgers. Wasn't impressed at all by the Scarlett Knights. But hey, maybe they're a much better team now. Florida could still lay an egg and lose at Florida State.

bobbob1313
When OSU absolutely blows out Michigan, it's really going to be anticlimactic.

bobbob1313
My school is 0-9 and just lost at home 35-0 to University of Louisiana-Monroe. There's nothing you can say that will hurt worse than the fact that I go to FIU.

watch me fall
The Gators should have gone down today. I knew when they blocked our extra point that it was over. Sigh.
cryptique
When OSU absolutely blows out Michigan, it's really going to be anticlimactic.I wish I could post an indignant rebuttal to this statement, but that's pretty much what I see happening too.
quarter23cd
I know its a weird thing to say when OSU just won 54-10, but (to my eyes) they still didn't look as sharp as I had hoped. OSU/UM is going to be a good one. With Michigan's D, I'm expecting this one to be a down-tempo, grind-it-out kind of game. Its how OSU took care of Texas earlier this year, but they haven't had to be that disciplined and efficient since then. Whichever team can create a couple more big plays will win, but its gonna be a brawl. :beer
watch me fall
So will the loser of the OSU-Michigan game still be in the running for the NC? Or will Florida, Arkansas, ND, USC or Rutgers (depending they all win out) take the spot? This is why I hate the BCS.
quarter23cd
So will the loser of the OSU-Michigan game still be in the running for the NC?I kind of doubt it. Although it really isn't particularly fair, a loss in November is a lot harder to overcome than a loss earlier in the season. Even if that loss came against a well-established #1/#2 team in the country, its pretty much a given that they will have to fall at least a couple spots in the rankings, which pretty much puts them out of contention. Or will Florida, Arkansas, ND, USC or Rutgers (depending they all win out) take the spot? This is why I hate the BCS. I've heard about a million scenarios, but the only way I could see a rematch is if Michigan wins a close game and everyone else loses (except Rutgers, I still don't think they'd get it). Only shot Rutgers has is a blowout and everyone else loses one more. USC's definitely in the driver's seat now. Go Cal Bears !!!! I can't really see the big game this weekend being a blow-out. This Michigan team is much better than the last few years, while I don't see the Buckeyes being that much better than they've been over the same period. Besides that, the games in recent years have for the most part been competitive no matter who's had more talent. Last 10 Meetings 1996 Michigan 13 Ohio State 9 Columbus 1997 Michigan 20 Ohio State 14 Ann Arbor 1998 Michigan 16 Ohio State 31 Columbus 1999 Michigan 24 Ohio State 17 Ann Arbor 2000 Michigan 38 Ohio State 26 Columbus 2001 Michigan 20 Ohio State 26 Ann Arbor 2002 Michigan 9 Ohio State 14 Columbus 2003 Michigan 35 Ohio State 21 Ann Arbor 2004 Michigan 21 Ohio State 37 Columbus 2005 Michigan 21 Ohio State 25 Ann Arbor Not that this stat means anything, but I still think it's pretty cool. Michigan's scored 217 points in the last ten, OSU 220. Each have won 5. IMO, best rivalry in sports.

Besides that, the games in recent years have for the most part been competitive no matter who's had more talent.OSU's offense is more open than in recent years. They need to spread the ball around to a lot of guys and not get caught up in trying to pound it up the middle (although that plays against the history of this rivalry). The defense, compared to recent years, is a strange thing--it will bend and give up yards, but it is also very opportunistic and creates a lot of turnovers. But the amazing thing about this rivalry is that none of the conventional wisdom really matters. It never seems to matter where these teams are ranked or who is favored or what people expect to see--its always a hard-fought game that usually comes down to who makes fewer mental mistakes. This is definitely a "who-wants-it-more" type rivalry, which is what makes it great.
