9:30 Club (DC) Pre-Sale Sold Out?????

Recommended Posts

I just checked the 9:30 Club web site and their "This Just In" announcement says: "Wilco pre-sale is now sold out." What pre-sale? I get their e-mails on upcoming shows and pre-sales and heard nothing about this.

Did anyone actually get in on this, or, hopefully, it is a mistake.

9:30 Club had their own pre-sale yesterday morning. Apparently the only way you could have the password is if you subscribe to their print newsletter. It wasn't in any emails they sent out. I wouldn't imagine that their pre-sale was more than a couple of hundred tickets at best.

I just called the 9:30 Club and there was a Wilco pre-sale already!!

What I was told is that in addition to the e-mail notifications of pre-sales, there is also a "snail mail brochure" sent out, and this announced the Wilco pre-sale. The brochure sometimes announces pre-sales that the e-mail announcement does not. I just checked the web site and sure enough, you can request "snail mail" as well as e-mail, but who would think that they would send out different announcements by mail?

I assume that the lack of any posts about the pre-sale means that the VC community was caught unawares.

There is still the WilcoWorld presale on the 13th, but how many tickets are left? I think the 9:30 Club holds 1,200.

They did the same crap to me. I signed up for the newsletter and never got it. I hope we have better luck with Wilco Pre-sale

I've never heard of a snail mail "brochure" and I've been on their email list forever. Sounds fishy, probably only sent out to a select few industry types, I'll bet.

The 9:30 Club it top-notch and I can gaurentee that nothing fishy is going on. I am under the impression that the newsletter and/or email announcements of soft-sales is a way of slowing down the scalping of tickets.

If you spend some time on the 9:30 Club forums you will see that the whole process is pretty transparent. If you are still not satisfied, post a complaint on the forums. One of the employees, if not the owner, will post a response to your question.

I haven't been to a WILCO show at 9:30 in several years (since they've hit the "big-time") I also have never ordered tix through the presale of their official site... I'm familiar with the venue (small and loud, but awesome) but can anyone give me some clue as to the likelyhood of getting tix for this show? Do I need to be at my computer/phone as soon as the presale opens (or even hours beforehand) to have a chance? Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm moving to Annapolis next week, so the show is so close both geographically and temporally, and I don't want it to slip away. I REALLY wanna hear some of the new tunes in an intimate setting. Thanks a ton!

If you logon as the Wilco presale or the regular 9:30 sale opens, you should have no problem getting tickets. I would guess the presale will go in about 5 minutes and the 9:30 sale will go in 10 minutes...don't hold me to that, though.

I'll give it the 'ol college try. Thanks for the info! One more question... I've never done the online ticket thing (save for straight up ordering them online.) Can you give me a quick walk-through as to what to expect and how to maximize my chances when I'm logged on at the presale? I'm getting a little hyper at the prospect of not getting tickets (at least at face value.) Thanks again!
