EL the Famous
The classic rock station out of Peoria I listened to in High School would 'GET THE LED OUT!' every Wednesday night at 10PM. Boy oh boy, I turned it up and ripped the knobs off.

freddy_knuckles
Man, this brings back some memories..........so I'm 14 years old and really into Zeppelin because my sister and brother-in-law turned me onto them. In Through the Out Door just came out and I go to the local Target to pick it up. This is probably one of the first 10 records I bought. I slap it down on the counter and the cashier tells me that Bonzo just died. Probably the only music purchase I will take to the grave. Other Zeppelin memories:Our neighbors buy a black shepard and name it "Zep" (approx 1977)My cousin from LA visits and can't stop talking about the fact that she has LZ tickets for an upcoming show (1977)Going to see TSRTS movie at a midnight showing and my musically deficiant and stoned buddy thinks Robert Plant is a girl. (1983)A friend of mine has the DJ at my wedding play "Hot Dog" because he knows I love Zeppelin but (used to) hate country music. (1991) Thanks for the trip down memory road. bry
i got my first introduction to led zepplin this weekend(not counting the songs that are played on the "classic" rock radio station in town), and i am really impressed. i mean they aren't really life-altering songs, but they are really great, and some of the guitar and bass parts are really clever from an analytical standpoint. either way, i'm impressed. i just bought that 2 disc set of "early days" and "latter days". anybody have any suggestions for full albums to pick up. next on my list to get is some t.rex stuff.10 CD box set. $80.00 or less. The only studio zep you need(all of it). Then start the boots. There are zep shows out there that sound much better than the studio offerings. But be careful, some of 'em sound like shit. mountain bed
-->QUOTE(Paul B @ Sep 20 2006, 12:13 PM) The first time I dosed was in 1985, by myself, at 11:30 at nite. The midnite album on the radio was Physical Graphitti. By the time the album was over, I was out of my mind but had that album burned into it as well. The odd part of the experience was that I was unable to listen to PG for years afterwards due to the feelings of anxiety and strangeness it would produce.I love stories like that

John Smith
The one I have is a 2 cd set - and has video stuff on it. I forget the label. I just saw a 10 cd set of this stuff on some Bit Torrent site the other day. Mine is a two cd set. It was originally available only on line. You could order the set by choosing the songs you wanted. So ther ecould be single disc versions out there with only the led zep stuff if that is what you wanted or with only the non-zep covers or just the crowes stuff etc... Mine is in a plastic case with a black book and with no video. The site went dead shortly after I purchased this and a while later it came out on their regular label. I also purchased the Who live. It is a set called "From the blues to the Bush" and is them playing a couple charity gigs at the house of blues in Chicago (For Mayville academy) ad at shepards Bush in England. Zak Starkey is their drummer. This one could be ordered the same way song by song etc... I purchased the whole set. Edit: That should be Music Maker not music Match. Atticus
thanks out to all of you who trumpted III in this thread. I've had all the zeppelin albums since college, but just never gave III the listening time I guess it deserved. went through the whole album last night and it was indeed more impressive than I had remembered. I kind of wish someone else had been in the control booth during the fuzz solo on tangerine, but other than that the album is flawless for the most part. I had a bitch of a time playing along with "out on the tiles" fingers were tired after finally getting that whole thing down...

danelectro
LZ are the one band I never get sick of, them and Sabbath. I really like all their stuff but if I had to pick a fave it would be Presence. Not only do I love the songs but I think that was Jimmy's guitar playing peak. That and I love the way he sounds playing a Strat. But I also like his playing on In Through The Out Door, minimalistic but very tasty. The album I almost never play is HOTH. With all the live video stuff that's been coming out of the woodwork it's really got me back in to full time Zep mode again. I just love to watch Jimmy play. People can gripe all day about him being sloppy I just think it rocks. Yeah I'm a fan boy.

Yeah I'm a fan boy. i'm in the same boat with thr albums you mentioned above. there's something in the sound on HOTH that puts me off. however, presence has a great atmosphere to it - as does physical graffiti, which sounds totally different and was only one year earlier. and yep, your username does hint that you're a zep fan

Due to Page I eventually played and collected dano's for a while. But when I selected the name it was for lack of a better idea. I no longer own any Danelectro guitars . Shortage of Cashews
I can't believe how many people are hating on In Through the Out Door. My god it has some of the most beautiful and unique Zeppelin tracks: I'm Gonna Crawl, Carouselambra, All My Love. I know it's uncool to enjoy ITTOD but I do. Is it Zep's best? No, but it's not terrible by any means.
Analogman
The dude who got me into them use to call In Through The Out Door "John Paul Jones solo album". I like I'm Gonna Crawl - that's it.
