easyover
I've seen Wilco a couple of times now but I've never seen Pat take a guitar solo. I saw the boys in Nottingham England over a year ago now. At one point I thought Pat was going to rock out but Jeff shot him a look that would stop an express train. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying it's a bad thing to restrain Pat. The Wilco show is a well oiled-machine and there are already two guitarists in the band - one exceptional (Nels) and one solid (Jeff). Too many guitar solos and it will be like a Lynyrd Skynyrd gig. I just want to know if it's an unwritten Tweedian rule - "Dont' rock out unless I say so"
aricandover
not a true solo, but I've seen Jeff, Pat and Nels "guitar battle" one another during Hoodoo Voodoo. that's the only time I've seen Pat doing something that seemed outside of his assigned part
nalafej
Thank god there are no solos at Wilco shows.
Kalle
NO GUITAR SOLOS EVER AT WILCO SHOWS.
Guest Rufer
I would love to see an EVH-style Nels Cline unaccompanied solo with tapping and appropriate pauses for crowd accolades.
Gobias Industries
Nels isn't the type to flaunt it. He's built like an orchestral player, but with godlier qualities. edit: Hoodoo Voodoo is the only Pat-solo I've heard. Is it weird that I like his solos more than Tweedy's? LouieB
Actually I have always wanted a keyboard solo or two. More recently that has sort of happened, but not really. LouieB
truetolife
I love a great guitar solo, shit I'm a sucker for them, but they must be done right and be within the context of the song, there's no need for meaningless noodling. A nice keyboard solo would be welcomed imo, I enjoy hearing the boundaries of a great tune being to something entirely different in a live setting, it keeps you on your toes. Mr. Heartbreak
Pat is only allowed to do Pete Townshend-like windmills. Beyond that, his role is strictly decorative.
NoOneKnowsMe
When I saw them at Milwaukee's Summerfest, I saw Pat do a little solo during "Handshake Drugs". He may not solo much, but he does.
Elixir Sue
I seem to remember Pat rocking out quite a bit at Lollapalooza...I guess he didn't really have a "solo", though.

IRememberDBoon
i saw pat play for like ten minutes in chapel hill with all kinds of passion then he looked down and realized he wasnt even plugged in. he reached down with a look of embarassment and plugged it on in
Kicking_Television
This was another highlight from Charlottesville in cleveland as well, even though my g/f passed out during it
run_run_run
They sould keep it supertight, I don't want them to be a wankfest band.
easyover
No guitar solos at Wilco shows? Are you guys kidding. One of the top three all time guitar solos is Jeff's on At Least That's What You Said. I could listen to a twenty minute version of that. Rock on Jeff. Let's take a straw poll. Who would like to see more guitar solos at Wilco shows?

In the end I don't want the messing with there live sound.
