If I play it in my garage am I going to have to run my engine and risk choking on fumes?

bjorn_skurj
We had about six or seven of them when I was a wee back in the '70s, when you could get them for $50 or less, or a couple of Foghat records and a pet rock.

The Birkenstocks were always a problem on the clutch pedaldoes owning a beetle mean you can't play the game slug bug? No. We'd slug each other walking across a parking lot before climbing into mine well into our twenties.
Spawn's dad
My first car was a '73 Beetle, and it was definitely no frills. I never took a nap in the "cubby hole" though... mine was a 1970 in yellow. the accelator cable used to snap, one time notably while on the way to see van hagar. my buddy and i scrambled into a ravine and scrounged up some pieces of rope which we tied to the accelator thingie in the rear. he used the string to give us gas while I drove and shifted. anodyne
first act has nice body styles and are suprisingly decent quality for the chinese sweatshop/slave labor factory models. they only recently started making a "pro" line and getting endorsements (slash, kurt ballou from converge). this is an attempt to up-brand their product from the toy/entry level guitars to the mid-range, hipster market. i don't think it'll work. Spawn's dad
I don't think those guitars actually hook up to the cars for sound. you guys aren't trying very hard Volkswagen Cars To Feature First Act Guitars Paul Westerberg October 03, 2006, 2:00 AM ET Wes Orshoski, N.Y. Burgeoning guitar maker First Act and auto giant Volkswagen have struck a deal through which new VW customers will receive a brand new six-string that is playable through the car's stereo system. Through the end of the year, drivers who buy or lease specialized versions of six VW cars (Jetta, Jetta GLI, GTI, Rabbit, New Beetle and New Beetle Convertible) will be handed a First Act GarageMaster electric guitar. Each axe will feature the VW logo, will display its corresponding car's vehicle identification number and be fitted with colored pick guards matching the exterior of the car. John Mayer, Slash and Christopher Guest (as his "Spinal Tap" character Nigel Tufnel) will appear in ads promoting the partnership. Boston-based First Act has made a name for itself in the past two years, as a manufacturer of both affordable, beginner six-strings as well as specially crafted guitars for members of such bands as Franz Ferdinand and Maroon 5. Somewhat famously, ex-Replacements frontman Paul Westerberg walked into a Wal Mart store some two years ago and stumbled upon First Act's beginner guitar, which he went on to play on tour. The company has since launched a Westerberg signature model. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a groundbreaking new collaboration, First Act has teamed up with Volkswagen of America, Inc. to present the First Act GarageMaster guitar, an innovative guitar that plays through the audio system of select VW models. As of October 3, each new Jetta, GLI, GTI, Rabbit, New Beetle, and New Beetle Convertible will come with the custom-designed First Act GarageMaster guitar. Owners of new VW models can transform their cars into mobile amps, with a newfound freedom to rock in the driveway, play at outdoor parties, or shred in the beach parking lot. New rockers will hit the road with a First Act GarageMaster guitar in the trunk, ready to stop and dispense riffs wherever the mood strikes. The Guitar and The Car The key to the guitar's unique design is a special built-in pre-amp that allows the guitar to plug directly into the VW model's auxiliary jack. The pre-amp was developed with First Act's proprietary V-Stack Technology, a revolutionary analog modeling technique that emulates the tone of sought-after vintage guitar amps. The guitar comes in four VW-complementary colors. An engraved plate on the back of the headstock features the same Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) as the newly purchased car. The Partnership "The partnership with First Act is the next iteration of Volkswagen's longstanding history with music," said Volkswagen's Director of Brand Innovation, Kerri Martin, "The Volkswagen brand is culturally known for its celebration of music and all things creative, this exciting collaboration makes a statement that Volkswagen is much more than just a car but a brand with innovative ideas and an unparalleled ability to create unique and appealing connections with its consumers." "We are excited to be working with Volkswagen because of what our two brands can generate together. Like Volkswagen, we value technological innovation and inspired design," said Bernard Chiu, First Act's Chairman of the Board. "Through this partnership, we have created a revolutionary way for players to perform," added Jeff Walker, First Act's Vice President of Marketing. The Promotion Volkswagen's supporting ad campaign, includes TV spots featuring John Mayer, Slash of Guns N' Roses, and Christopher Guest (as Nigel Tufnell of Spinal Tap), with original music produced by Josh Abraham and CJ Vanston. The First Act/Volkswagen promotion runs through December 31, 2006. For more information, visit vdubsrock.com and firstact.com.
