LouisvilleGreg
A single implies radio airplay and some sort of promotional push. I think those days ended for Wilco with "Can't Stand It."
uncle wilco
single? wilco don't do singles. what song will be in the first video?......uhhh, nevermind. they are the only band i know of that insists on being under the radar. and that's fine with me.
welch79
A single implies radio airplay and some sort of promotional push. I think those days ended for Wilco with "Can't Stand It."you're probably right. in fact, i would prefer if they continued operating in this fashion. is this bad/selfish? LouisvilleGreg
you're probably right. in fact, i would prefer if they continued operating in this fashion. is this bad/selfish? No, it's good, think of how difficult it would be to get tickets if they were even twice as big as they currently are. Truthfully, I have no doubt that Wilco is going to be a band that will be immeasurably larger twenty years from now, than they ever will actually be while still around. The Velvet Underground is a good reference point.
Guest tandylacker
No, it's good, think of how difficult it would be to get tickets if they were even twice as big as they currently are. The Velvet Underground is a good reference point. If they were bigger it would be alot easier to get tickets. Larger venues, more venues...
JMal
what was the single from "A Ghost Is Born?" "YHF?"
HighFives
what was the single from "A Ghost Is Born?" "YHF?"Â Heavy Metal Drummer, I'm A Wheel. i think Kamera too.
LouisvilleGreg
If they were bigger it would be alot easier to get tickets. Larger venues, more venues...  Larger Venues = Bad seats, higher ticket prices, worse sound and lots of dumb assholes (likely anyway).
mrrice
I think War on War was the only single from either of those records. Heavy Metal Drummer, I'm A Wheel. i think Kamera too.
HighFives
I think War on War was the only single from either of those records. there's and I'm a Wheel 7" and a music video for HMD. so I just figured they were singles.   EDIT: oh it looks like those were just promos guess I got confused. Altho I am pretty sure the 7" isn't a promo thing could be wrong tho.
Mud
I generally consider promos and singles the same thing, talking not about the singles you buy in stores, but about what gets sent to radio stations and has a video. From YHF it was War On War and HMD and from AGIB it was I'm A Wheel. HighFives
I think theologians was a promo too.
welch79
...lots of dumb assholes (likely anyway).as you alluded, i don't think there's a way around this fact of life, mate. there are alot of 'em out there. just breeding more. they like to eat brains and can only be killed with head shots. So Long
Bass Player magazine said that Handshake Drugs was the single off of AGIB...hm...they probably just loved the bassline. I also love the small-band Wilco. I mean, they ARE the best band in the world...what does it matter if only we understand that? lol
