Wilco & Neil Revisited

Recommended Posts

when I first saw this thread title, I thought "finally someone is addressing my love of wilco."

then I thought "what the hell is the rest of the thread (sub)title about."

I wish I could join in on the Neil Young analogy, but I'm not well-versed enough. Pocahontas, where are you?

if you're looking for consecutive albums, then your best bet it

sky blue sky, is to a ghost is born what after the goldrush is to everybody knows this is nowehere

or, more logically

sky blue sky, is to a ghost is born what harvest moon is to ragged glory

I seem to recall these questions being on the SAT.

"Sky Blue Sky" is to 'A Ghost is Born' what "On the Breach" is to 'Tonight's the Night'. Anybody agree?

No. But it's close.

'Sky Blue Sky' sounds closer to Zuma than Tonight's the Night. (Good call Halcyon)

The closest thing in Neil's catalog that I can compare 'A Ghost is Born' to is Sleeps With Angels.

It's ironic, because in that other thread that was comparing Wilco albums to Beatles albums, I was trying to come up with their analogues to Neil Young albums. I got this far:

AM - American Stars & Bars

Being There - Everybody Knows This is Nowhere

Mermaid Avenue 1 - Comes a Time

Summerteeth - ????

Mermaid Avenue 2 - Old Ways

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - The bastard child of Rust Never Sleeps and Trans

A Ghost is Born - Sleeps With Angels

Sky Blue Sky - Zuma

Nothing makes sense in the "Summerteeth" hole, unless you want to count the Buffalo Springfield tracks.
