intodeep
Depends. It POURED rain at a Neil Young concert during Lucinda William' opening set. Everyone ran over to the sides where there is a bit of a covered area. The rain stopped after only a short while. I was at that neil show The crowd was horrible for the show. can't beleive he had to abort bandit.
jff
The crowd was horrible for the show. can't beleive he had to abort bandit. I can believe it. That was typical Chastain audience behavior. I hope (and am expecting) the Wilco audience will be more respectful.
jff
I looked at weather.com and it looks pretty nasty from about 5pm to midnight. hopefully they are wrong. That was the forecast for most days last week. The actual weather turned out to be mostly clear days with one short and fairly mild rainstorm in the evening, followed by cooler air and clearing skies. I'm going to knock on wood and hope that'll be the worst that tomorrow brings. You folks who are driving in from out of town, be safe and stay focused when you're driving. We have a lot of psycho drivers here, unfortunately, and tons of 18-wheelers on I-285.
Paula Deen
i can't find anything on umbrellas at the chastain. mostly just snooty reviews from uppercrust citizens that bring vintage wine and imported cheese to see their favorite performers. it must not rain on season pass holders, i figure. damn us, lowly wilco goers. damn us. Maddie Hope
Depends. It POURED rain at a Neil Young concert during Lucinda William' opening set. Everyone ran over to the sides where there is a bit of a covered area. The rain stopped after only a short while. On another occaision, I saw Traffic play there. It rained heavily and steadily the entire time and everyone just stayed put and accepted the fact that they were going to be soaked. That was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. At the Traffic concert, just about everyone had umbrellas (but still got pretty soaked). I'm not sure if they still allow people to bring in umbrellas, but it'd be worth checking. Chances are, IF it rains, it'll only rain for 10 or 15 minutes and will pass, leaving behind either: 1) wonderfully refreshing cool breezes, or 2) stifling humidity and nasty/sticky mugginess.I was at that Neil show too... the crowd was aweful... but during the rain i met some kool folks that shared there table and food, so it made things better (for me anyways) I'm hoping it doesn't pour tomorrow... Guess i could use another shower "maybe the sun will shine today, clouds blow away"... maybe we can chant this and the skyes will hear us? Yes folks traveling be careful, crazy drivers to say the least... i don't go to the city that much due to igiot minded drivers and the roads... I'll be traveling to Charlotte Wed. looks tho to be easy to get to my motel... i'm a hoping...cya all at the show!!

isadorah
I hope it doesn't rain. If it does, it will add to the ambience. I just arrived in Atlanta after going through travel HELL!!! never fly US Airways, oh wait, don't worry they will cancel your flight if you do. *heavy sigh* with a screaming baby infront of me and rowdy fraternity/sorority kids around me on an overbooked reassigned flight, I managed to drown out the noise with some wilco and am READY for the show tomorrow! can't wait! wilco's well worth any travel hell one can endure, just don't rain too much tomorrow. renic
i think at this point, the only thing holding her back is how good she feels. she had food poisoning last week & is just starting to get back on her feet. she misses out on a lot of shows b/c she doesn't have friends that like to see concerts & my sister is in israel so she can't go. i told her that she won't feel alone @ a wilco show though. jff
Um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this could be a disaster. Come prepared. From ajc.com: Good chance of rain for parched metro area By MIKE MORRISThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 06/19/07 A cold front sweeping toward North Georgia will be bring a near 100 percent chance of rain to metro Atlanta and much of the state. The National Weather Service pegged the chance of rain at 90 percent Tuesday afternoon, decreasing slightly to 70 percent overnight before tapering off to 20 percent on Wednesday. The rain could be accompanied by thunderstorms, with isolated storms reaching severe levels with damaging winds and hail, forecasters warned. The cold front will also bring cooler temperatures, with highs expected to be in the low 80s on Tuesday and mid-80s Wednesday, the Weather Service said. So far this month, only 1.08 inches of rain has fallen in the city's official rain gauge at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, a deficit of .97 inch. For the year, the 12.81 inches of rain recorded at the airport is 12.25 inches below normal, the Weather Service said. Metro Atlanta is in an "extreme drought," meaning that the area is experiencing dry conditions expected once eveyr 50 years, according to state climatologist David Stooksbury. Ninety-five counties, stretching from Rabun County in the northeast corner of the state to the Dougherty County in South Georgia, are in an extreme drought. Monday afternoon, the mercury climbed into the mid-90s across metro Atlanta. The forecast for the remainder of the week calls for mostly sunny skies Thursday through Sunday, with highs in the upper 80s Thursday and low 90s Friday through Sunday. SarahC
i have lived in the south my whole life.storms in the summer do not last long hardly ever. yesterday it rained here in chattanooga for like 20 minutes and cleared up downtown pretty quickly there was lightning and stuff too... the ticket says "rain or shine" so i do not think it will cut the show short. maybe the sun will shine today... jff
the ticket says "rain or shine" so i do not think it will cut the show short. maybe the sun will shine today... I hope you're right, but "rain or shine" is not the same as "hail, lightning and damaging winds or shine". I went to see the Allman Brothers many years ago at Atlanta's other outdoor amphitheater. It rained so hard the day before the concert the entire front section was turned into a pond. The show was postponed until three days later. I know that's not relevant, but I thought I'd go into rainy-day storytime mode for a minute.

jff
To be optimistic (and hopefully exactly right), usually storms here start around 4:30...right when I leave work and get on the road , but they are TYPICALLY over by 7 or 8. Also, we usually don't have long-lasting downpours, as Sarah stated.

SarahC
oh... did i tell you guys the nerdy thing i did pertaining to the show last week?? i've been really paranoid about the seats we have for some reason. i had 2 "nightmares" about them. one involved a giant pillar coming down on the stage to where i couldn't see anybody and the other one involved a basketball team standing in front of me... i'm a nerd... anyway, it led me to call Chastain and ask where my seats were exactly...the convo was like this: guy: what are the numbers on your tickets? me: row left pit seats 7,8,9 or something like thatguy: well, that means that there are 5 rows in front or you before you get to the stageme: oh...do you know how good the sight line is?guy: uh, you're five rows back from the stage... me: oh, thanks have a lovely dayguy: (laughs) you too.
