Wilco Worshipper
First Andrea, you'd be proud of me...I held myself together quite well So I was told by my radio representative that this was a Soundcheck AND Meet & Greet...it was not But I looked at the bright side immediately and went with the flow (which I'll have you all know is VERY unusual for me). We got to sit wherever we wanted, for some reason only Atticus and I chose to sit in the front row. Don't know why the others chose to hang back, but that's alright with me. So Jeff came out with most of the rest of the band and said hello and kind of explained how things were going to go. While we were waiting for Glenn (we were told it was his 1st day without his wife and his 1st day being late...lol), Jeff asked for some requests. A few ppl shouted out this and that, Atticus asked for 'I Got You'. Jeff said as soon as he switched to electric they would. So while we were still waiting for Glenn, he asked how we all got the chance to be there...did we have to be the right caller or something. Well, no one really offered an answer, so I bravely spoke up... WW: We entered an online radio contest.JT: So what do you have to for it?WW: Just go to their website and give them your name & emailJT: That's it? So were your names drawn out of a hat ooooooooooorrr were you the ONLY ones who tried? (with a laugh)WW: Ummm, I'm not sure.JT: So did you win tickets to the show with the passes?WW: Yes, but the tickets were worse than the seats I had already bought.JT: I'm so sorry (shaking his head). WW: It's okay, I gave away my free ones.JT: Radio stations suck like that (smile)WW: It's fine, I bought 5th row tickets two days ago, so I'm all set. After that it's a blur... But that's the jist of our conversation. I'm surprised I handled it as well as I did. I know in my head, I was thinking omfg, omfg, omfg I'm talking to Jeff f-in Tweedy man!!! Definitely NOT worthy!!! And then, they didn't seem to really dig most of the requests being made. I kind of got the feeling that most of the guests were sort of new fans. They kept requesting stuff off of SBS and Jeff kept explaining to them that they'd see that later in the show. So we did end up with She's A Jar, Red-Eyed and Blue into I Got You, Passenger Side (which as most of you know they did perform later), two others (can't recall them now) and MY special treat!!! So, like I said, they didn't seem too into the requests, so I went out on a limb and shouted out "Pieholden Suite". John look at me and said "What?". I repeated "Pieholden Suite!". Jeff said "We don't really play any of our old stuff anymore". He & John discussed it and decided to go with it. John turned back to me and said "It's going to be the worst version ever". I said "It doesn't matter to me". And they played it and half way through they did have to stop and pick up again. But it was amazing, beautiful...to hear AND WATCH Jeff sing "whenever we kissed we were surprised to find sooooooooooo much insiiiiiiiiiiiide" *big sigh* It was such a treat. This whole week has been the best week of my life EVER!!! I will never forget any of this!!! (Oh and for the record, if I didn't mention it in 'The Pines' thread...I did touch Jeff on the shoulder when he came out to dance with us I thought I was going to die!!! I know I might come off like a COMPLETE groupie at times and I am. But ya know what?!? I honestly appreciate them and respect them, as well. They've been a big part of my life over the past 7 years and will continue to be. I don't think I could ever completely express in words what they, moreso Jeff himself, do for my heart and soul!!!) Wilco Worshipper
WAIT!!! What do you mean he came out to dance with you??? Where, when, how...details please!!!! Where: Look Park, The Pines, Northampton MAWhen: Sunday June 24th, 2007 at the end of the main set or end of 1st encore, can't remember nowHow: Well, ya know how at the end of 'Hummingbird" he usually does his adorable little running in place dance? Well, he did it that night and jumped in the middle of the audience to do it. There was only one person beween Jeff and I, so I had to "seize the day" and I reached out to touch him. I put my right hand on his left shoulder while he did his little jig in place I still remember what he was wearing and how hot (LITERALLY, I mean) his shoulder was!!! That was about it. It was funny, too, because when he went back on stage after the song was over, he commented on how we all reacted. He said we all backed up like he was going to break dance or something When all he WANTED to do, was "be with us" He said some people were even looking at him weird, because they didn't know what to make of the whole thing. Silly people That's my story
